5.0 out of 5 stars great library resource, July 3, 2011
This review is from: Advanced Placement Classroom: A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Teaching Success Guide for the Advanced Placement Classroom) (Paperback)
This is a great addition to our library collection, useful for faculty and students. Faculty can use it in many ways to develop curriculum, from the guided reading selections, great essay suggestions, to the well-developed quizzes. Students will enjoy the photos of scenes from reproductions of the play to the humorous Elizabethan insults. A terrific resource for anyone working with A Midsummer Night's Dream!

I think this book makes an excellent addition to any Drama teacher or English teacher's classroom library. Chock full of wonderful insights on how Shakespeare wrote, this book will help any educator bring the work to life. Not just theory, the fact that the contents of this book have been tried and tested is a testament to its usefulness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent classroom resource!, February 24, 2011
This review is from: Advanced Placement Classroom: A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Teaching Success Guide for the Advanced Placement Classroom) (Paperback)
This is a fantastic book for teachers who want to incorporate Shakespeare into their classroom, as well as for those who currently do so. The authors make using Shakespeare easy for teachers who are not necessarily comfortable with the material, while at the same time providing ample support, resources, and ideas for teachers who are fluent with Shakespeare. This book is a must have for all English Language Arts professionals!

Best explanation of iambic pentameter ever! And I loved knowing about the different rhythm when characters are casting spells--neat!

A Midsummer Night's Dream is the most compact of these AP classroom Shakespeare guides, with about 130 pages of information and project suggestions. Kids will enjoy the Shakespearean Insult Slam, which instructs them in how to torment others Shakespeare style. Who would turn down the opportunity to utter word such as, "churlish maggot-pie" or "beslubbering canker-blossom!" Skit cards encourage creative expression without a whole lot of preparation. This guide also covers the individual acts of MSND and production notes to assist with performance.
