5.0 out of 5 stars A great way to start in C, November 20, 2003

This review is from: Advanced OS/2 Presentation Manager Programming (Wiley Professional Computing) (Paperback)
This is the first real OS/2 programming book I was successfully able to work through (Real World Programming for OS/2 2.11 was a little too in depth for a newbie like me). Each chapter has code for a different program to work through. Additionally, each chapter teaches a different Presentation Manager (PM) API. Some things have to be assummed and not understood when entering the code (not included on any disk). However, the act of typing code over again with each chapter drills in the fundamental framework of PM programming. I was able to compile all programs from the command line using EMX, the GNU compiler for OS/2 on both Warp 3 & 4.

Another book after this would be "OS/2 2.1 Workplace Shell Programming" (Book and Disk) by Stefano Maruzzi. After that, perhaps Real World Programming with OS/2 2.11 for in-depth PM programs. All three use C, which is a good way to start, in my humble opinion.
