Military Paintballer, October 22, 2009
This review is from: Advanced Scenario Paintball (Paperback)
As said before this book isn't what I would call "advanced". However, if you are new to paintball it is a great way for you to build a foudation for advanced play later on. I have been playing for over 6 yrs and upon my entry to the military have further advanced my skills that I use in paintball. This book does give great tips on how to set up your teams and how to pick your role on your team. Again not what I would call advanced but a great read for the newcomers to the sport. I myself didnt take very much from it, but to really be an advanced player you have to master the fundamentals of the sport and without that no amount of reading will make you an advanced player. But this is an all around good book no complaints about it, though another book that I thought did a better job was "Paintball Warrior Tactics"

Good tactics in regards of team formation. Not so good in field tactics. Easy to read.

"Advanced" is a bit of a misnomer, but otherwise solid, August 12, 2008
This review is from: Advanced Scenario Paintball (Paperback)
As someone else already said, I wouldn't call this book "advanced." This book is good for the intermediate player, the guy who's played for a little bit but is looking to step up his game, maybe join a team and go play a scenario event.
The book gives a short description of several team roles (Point man, sniper, scout, etc.), different terrains and conditions for paintball scenarios (Urban, night, winter, etc.) and tips and tactics for how to deal with them, a short section on tanks, a fun little chapter calls "Tips and Tricks" that has several entertaining ideas I'm trying over the next few games, and finally a list of some new game ideas, each of them with optional variations. There is also a list of helpful websites at the end.
The book seemed very short to me - it clocks in at 130 pages, but there's about 15 pages before you actually get to the body of the book and another 10 at the end that's simply listing websites and other books. Add that into the rather large type and the fairly regular use of large pictures, and you have maybe 60 pages of actual info.
That's not to say the book's bad at all - I got some good info out of it. But as far as depth and info I didn't already know, I found it somewhat lacking. If you're a beginner, I'd go for "The Complete Guide to Paintball, 4th Edition." www.specialopspaintball.com has more useful and more in-depth woodsball info posted for free on its site. This book is good filler, but by no means comprehensive - use it to round out your paintball book collection.
