This book on a CD is very poor in quality and content.,

This review is from: Advanced Web Site Development (CD-ROM)
After receiving the CD, there are no real written instructions included - other than to put it into your cd driver, locate the index.html file and open it with Netscape Navigator. The author uses a non-standard font - which is not embedded on the CD and is hard to read. The content is for beginners to Web development. The information under the JAVA button, does not exist - it is not on the CD-ROM and Netscape could not find it on the Web. I have returned this CD and cannot recommend it to others. If there was a choice for the rating to be 0 stars, I would give it that rating.

Excellent for learning HTML, Javascript, and Web tools,

This review is from: Advanced Web Site Development (CD-ROM)
As an instructor I have used this CD-ROM book for courses in introductory Internet, Javascript, and multimedia. Students use the CD as their text and can copy the HTML codes they need for their assignments. The user MUST have a beginner's knowledge of computers and MUST have Netscapte Navigator 4.X, as the CD-ROM book indicates. Users who wish to have a hard-copy of the book can print out a hard-copy for their use. As the title indicates, this book is for somewhat advanced users, persons who know their way around a computer and have an introductory knowledge of the Internet. The book is a series of tutorials which takes the user step-by-step through all the major Web-based tools (HTML, Web graphics, DHTML, CSS, Javascript, JAVA, Authorware, Director, Shockwave). The CD-ROM book uses standard Netscape fonts so that all computers can read the tutorials easily. All features of the book are fully functional. |
