Having studied Arabic at degree level and now teaching the language as a non-native speaker to foreigners, I would thoroughly recommend this book to advanced learners of Arabic. It is the best one I have come across at this level. It can be used independently by the student or as a teacher resource.What makes it so good is the way vocabulary and idioms are recycled. Also the teaching methodology is vey sound. One slight problem is that I have not been able to get hold of the accompanying tapes from the UK.

no audiovisual no use,

without the audiovisual this book is nothing but a bunch of questions related to the video and audio cassettes that is supposed to come with it . And even if you have the audiovisual you need a teacher to tell you if you answered correctly or not. There are some audiovisuals that are crucial to the book , and some not. Very crucial in this case. I dont think i would be impressed even if it came with the audiovisual cassettes. Watch algezeera on you tube and you will be good to go.
