4.0 out of 5 stars Gets You Going, February 25, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Advanced Walk Aerobics [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am 25 and in fairly good shape but this video really got my heart going. I like Leslie's enthusiasm, though she could have probably done a better job picking out her music. When I get tired of stepping in place, I substitute a leg lift of grapevine. Usually I do my own moves because I really only need to hear the beat and her counting and encouragement. I like that the warm up lasts only a few minutes, and that she is continually stepping up the pace. I don't mind that everyone in the video is over fifty, though it was a little disconcerting at first. I break a sweat everytime, and only wish that the tape last about ten minutes longer. It got me back on track and I do it almost every night.

2.0 out of 5 stars The only Leslie Sansone "Walk Away" tape I haven't cared for, August 31, 2002

There were two things about this video I didn't care for--and one of them was my own fault. I didn't notice the video was from 1989, with all the poodle hairdos and glittery workout clothes and leggings!! I found it very distracting (but I giggled a lot, not something I often do during exercise videos so maybe that's really a plus...!)

But I found the low audio and video production values of this tape much more distracting. I believe it's one of her earliest videos, which might account for it. The others I've bought and used (I have at least 12) are far above this both in production and professionalism of Leslie's instruction. Very grainy video and it was often hard to hear the music. And as anyone who's followed Leslie's walking tapes knows, she IS perky and sometimes runs off on a topic with all sincerity, while we're all sweating away at our 24th repetition until she collects herself! Personally I don't have a problem with the perkiness and I'm advanced enough that the moves aren't much of a problem but occasionally I find myself talking to the TV saying, "Come ON, Les, get on to something else!"

I really liked that the folks in the video were actual students of all shapes and sizes, and, yes, a few men! from her classes. The set was not conducive to clarity of audio, though, and seemed pretty tight since it was so chock-full of "regular folks" doing the exercising.

Overall, I love her tapes, but get some newer ones with better production values and fewer people, I find those much easier to follow.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple but Effective, January 6, 2000
This review is from: Advanced Walk Aerobics [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have had this video for a about 5 years or so. And when I get back into the exercise kick, this is the first video I grab. It is under 30 minutes. It's not all that difficult. It is a great energy boost, not to mention good for your ego too! My only gripe is, there is no way to tell what the equivalent is in "Miles walked", or calories burned. Other than that, I think it's a great video for anyone,(except for the lean & mean). They would not be happy.
