This volume, containing the proceedings of a symposium held at the 23rd World Congress of the Societe Internationale d'Urologie, considers recent clinical advances in BCG treatment regimes, dosage and patient management. Presenting results from a three-year follow-up study, investigators show that a large number of patients responded very well to treatment, and many remained recurrence-free. This demonstrates that BCG immunotherapy treatment has improved significantly during the last few years. Two studies report an increase in safety and efficacy due to dose reduction. Others describe the positive effects of improvement made in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of adverse reactions associated with BCG.
