Finally, a recent book on the genetics of Twins!,

In the 1960s, many geneticists focused on studying twins. In so doing they could determine the degree of genetic etiology for a given disease. Since then the focus of genetics research has been families, using association, segregation, and linkage analysis to identify genetic involvement, type of inheritance, and the putative location of a gene. Many monogenic disorders have thus been explained. Today, when the research focus is on complex diseases, geneticists are finding that there is still value in performing twin studies. It has been difficult to find recent methodologies designed to exploit the advantages in the natural design of a twin study. This book comes as a welcome recent addition to the epidemiological and methodological literature on genetic research. The product of a Genetic Epidemiology conference in 1998, it contains chanpters based on a series of lectures given at the conference and is written in language that makes it accessible to the statistician, methodologist, and scientist. The epidemiologist will appreciate that it covers the biases and study design issues particular to twin studies. The methodologist will be interested in the wide variety of methods used by twin researchers and the obvious need for more and better methodologies. The statistician will appreciate the use of general as well as genetic statistical modeling used in twin analysis. This book has filled a niche in the literature that has long been collecting dust.
