This review is from: Advancing the Story: Broadcast Journalism In A Multimedia World (Text Only) (Paperback)
What I really liked about this book is that it explains the principles behind the multimedia ethos. It lays out very clearly what the different strengths are of different media like print, video and audio and how to use them on the Internet. It encourages you to think about stories strategically and to conceptualise how you will use different media on your site to do different things. Whether you want to show the broader context, humanise a story, or allow your audience to explore the issues themselves, knowing the principles will allow you to do so intelligently. Too many books just showcase how to produce in different media, encouraging their readers in a technophilic haze to create manic media overload. This book doesn't.
