I recently purchased this set of 2 traps and I am very happy with them. So far I have caught 8 tree squirrels and 4 rats, mostly in the small trap using peanut butter on bread or crackers. I tried the larger trap using cat food and caught one of my dogs within hours (oops). I have had the bait stolen out of the small trap a few times without catching anything but I also caught two of the rats after something had already eaten the bait the previous night. Both the door and the door lock are spring loaded on these traps which makes them really secure but takes both hands to open and may be a problem if you catch a skunk. I tied a cord near the bottom of the door so that after defeating the latches I can hold the door open without having my hand on it (until the squirrel figures that the door to his new world is open).

I had an unreliable metal varment trap that I have been using a year to trap stray cats in my area and one night a derned possum got in it and DESTROYED IT!! But I found these and got an awesome deal, got them and good grief at how nice these traps are!! Very safe trap for both trapper and trapee...lots of safety devices to save your arm from being pummeled when baiting and setting up as well as excellent sturdy construction for the safety of the animal as well...I couldn't be more pleased with these traps...I highly recommend them!

It really did the trick, I caught that pesky raccoon that was destroying my roof.

ive caught 4 coons and 2 possums with the big cage,(use cat food as bait)nothing has ever come into the small one though.
