If you lament how the commercialization of Christmas and therush of the season has crowded out its true significance, you willfind The Advent Book to be a wonderful way for your family to rediscover the true meaning of Christmas. As you sit down as a family every night to look at these illustrations and to reflect on the Biblical account, you will reconnect as a family with the great story of the dramatic events leading up to, and including, Christ's birth. Each day leading up to Christmas is represented by a different, richly illustrated door. Open that door and you will see a beautiful illustration of a Biblical event with a part of the Biblical account. The illustrations are magnificently detailed and vibrant. This is a book your family will use year after year. Recommended highly!

I recently had an opportunity to preview The Advent Book. I am excited and eager to make it a part of my family's Christmas observance. The book is to be used in the manner of an Advent calendar with doors which open to reveal pictures and text telling the Christmas story. The illustrations are rich and beautiful and the text is written so that children can understand and learn the story as they repeat and add to it each day. Kids will love opening the large and unique doors. In the preface, the author also gives good ideas for additional Advent activities. This large book was elegantly produced with cloth binding, gold leaf, and ribbon ties. It will be our family's newest heirloom!

This book is AWESOME! We got it as a gift when my son was just one. Now he is four and have enjoyed it every year. It is a bit slow at the beginning because there is only a little bit of the story behind each beautiful door. So, on the first night you only read a sentence or two. But, we always repeat and start from door (day 1) and the kids really get the story that way. I highly recommend this book and am actually buying it for my brother and wife. This is a wonderful unique gift idea and perfect for any family advent tradition! Enjoy!!

This is an amazing beautiful book. Each page has a beautifully illustrated door which opens to a part of the Christmas Story. Throughout the 25 doors the well told story unfolds. Each door can be read before that day's door is opened. Simple and ageless. I made a cloth book cover for the book, both to protect the outer cover from the many children and adults who will read this and to enhance the beauty of this book.

This book is wonderful. I could never imagine a book so beautiful. I have been using this book with my family and I really appreciate it. The book tells the story of the events leading up to Christs birth, his birth, and the events after his birth. I am really glad that the author decided to include the events after his birth because otherwise so many special events would have been left out. This is the perfect book for children everywhere to learn about Jesus' birth.

This beautifully illustrated and scripturally sound telling of the greatest story on earth will become a favorite family tradition. Each exquisite door opens to reveal a concise and accurate portion of the nativity story with detailed art.

Our grandchildren, 3 and 6, love to "read" it to us. It is a joy to see them so excited for their devotions at Christmas time. Each night we read all the past nights and the one for the new day as we go through the month. Each page is short enough and important enough that it does not "get old". They say it is sad when there are no more pages!

I appreciate that the authors have extended the story to adroitly include pertinent sidelines that help us understand the true message of why Christ was born, such as Elizabeth's and Mary's understanding of the importance of Jesus' special birth. I also noted the appropriate timing of the visit of the maji that is often missed in the telling.

I am buying more---for each of my children, for their children as they are born...

The book was a hit for our family. The kids loved opening the doors each night, and we were grateful for a systematic way to keep our focus on the real reason for Christmas.

This is a great book! It's not candy coating the story of Christmas or Jesus' birth. The authors made sure to tell the story just how the bible does. This is the book for you and your family if your looking for a biblical account of Jesus birth, with beautiful art work, and if you'd like to start a wonderful tradition with your family. Dispite what some of the other reviews stated, I think the art in this book is beautiful. The details and talent that went into this book are obviously inspired by God's spirit.

It's a beautiful book. Some of the pictures of the doors are from area houses and behind each one is part of the Christmas story.

This book has changed our lives and how we celebrate the season of Advent. We not only celebrate Christmas, now we celebrate Advent. I purchased this book about 5 years ago. We love it and I plan to give it to each of our 4 children as they start their families. I also give it as a Wedding gift.
