Living or moving overseas with young children? Buy this book!,
This review is from: The Adventure Begins: First Day at Detinu International School (Paperback)
If you are raising children in overseas schools, this book will give your young children a way to remember their first day. If you (or your friend or relative) are going overseas for the first time, this book will give you and your young children a glimpse of what their first day in their new school could look like. The warmth with which students are accepted, their diverse backgrounds and languages, and the resources available in good international schools are clearly pictured. The relationships that develop quickly are very realistic. The book is written for a young reader, so it's a great way to read aloud or to encourage emerging literacy. It's the first children's book I've seen with a theme centered around international schools. Although the book is in English, the message is for all nationalities. The Adventure Begins is very compact, colorful and portable... just right for your carry-on. By itself, this book is not complete. Hopefully it is the beginning of a series.

Should be required reading for every international primary classroom on the first day of school. Absolutely spot-on. It really meets a need for explicitly addressing TCK issues in terms young people can understand.
