I carried this book with me for three weeks in Cambodia and I was delighted that I chose this one. The maps pinpoint the hotels and restaurants even in small out of the way towns. This book has maps and towns not even mentioned in other books. Its has excellent coverage and inside information on the 'Big three'-Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukeville and has a huge color fold out map of the entire country on one side and a detailed map of Phnom Pen on the other,The safety and traveling tips are unique and worth the price of the book alone. Wonderfuly easy to read.

I recently returned from a motorcycle trip around Cambodia and can confirm that this is the only book to take with you - forget the others! Clear and concise, lots of maps, and a lot of "off the beaten path" true adventure travel opportunities.

More Maps of Cambodia than any other book,

Adventure Cambodia bears a resemblance to Lonley Planet in terms of organization and layout but the similarities end there. The average backpacker would run for cover if faced with visiting all of the the destinations in this book. This book contains almost 50 maps, more than triple of any other guide book. The travel information is accurate and easy to follow for public transportation or by motorcycle or car. Adventure Cambodia provides practical information on how to reach and enjoy some of Cambodias accessable and least accessible destinations. The authors love for the country is apparent throughout the book as is their extensive knowledge of Cambodias turbulent history. However, they never allow their obvious affection to cloud their judgement, Adventure is remarkably frank about the pitfalls that Southeast Asias poorest nation presents for the unprepaired. This book is written in a clear and conversational style and will prove to be an indespensable reference for diehard explorers, motorcycle enthusiasts and anyone else with an independent streak. The safety section and traveling tips are outstanding as are the detailed instructions on traveling from one town to another. The book is filled with beautiful and unusual photographs and the maps are clear, accurate and easy to read.

The safety tips are outstanding. In depth coverage of every region of the country. The only reason I didn't take it with me to Cambodia was that Lonely Planet had more phone numbers of places to stay and I lost the included map of Cambodia that comes with this book. If this book had had printed in it a map of the entire country, then this would have been the book I would have taken. Great read before going however!

I spent several weeks in Cambodia and this book was very
helpful. Of course things change so rapidly in Cambodia that no travel book can be completely up to date, but this book had helpful service and attraction information for every town I visited in five provinces. I looked at some of the other books available and this one was clearly superior (although it would be nice if it had had an index!) I was also impressed that quite a few Cambodian and western owned bookstores and tourist businesses I visited in the country recommended this book.

Finally I found it on Amazon again! I bought this book and went on a 3 week motorcycle ride from Phnom Penh to Banlung and then a quickie trip to Sihanoukville. Every stop along the way, this book helped and informed me and my two friends. With the Rough Guide we had all the information we needed -- I didn't find the LP Guide needed at all in the end. Especially useful and interesting were the pages on the "Death Highway" in Mondulkiri. My copy got muddy and well worn; the sign of a good value and important guide, if you ask me.

The book I received in July, 2006 was published in 2004 - NOT 2005, as indicated. It doesn't contain contain any information that you can't get from other guidebooks - and the information on specific sites is sketchy. Maybe it is useful if you plan on touring on a motorcycle, but otherwise, there are more current guidebooks covering the same places more effectively.

The only reason I am rating this book a 1 is to get my father's attention - Matthew Henry "Jake" Jacobson. I have not seen or heard from you in 10 years. Hope you are enjoying your travels in Cambodia more than you enjoyed your daughter.
