Cheap, Cheap Plastic Not much fun,
This review is from: Adventure Fleet Complex 39 Playset (Toy)
This looks like such a great toy, and the packaging is really impressive, but don't be fooled like we were. I assumed that by paying close to 25 dollars it would be somewhat durable-just reasonable durability-I don't expect much from plastic toys...but this is really really bad. You might also think that paying that much would give you things like closable doors...you know, 99 cent matchbox cars' doors stay closed, but the space shuttle's doors don't-which limit it's "fun" factor. The "movable arm" is just a free floating plastic stick that simply is stuck into a hole..It doesn't even stay in. The "launch pad" and the fuel tank/boosters are down right horrible. They don't connect to the shuttle, which was disapointed all of us, especially my son. And it is so cheaply made, I really can't believe that it wasn't bought from the dollar store. My son was so excited for this set. But after playing with it for just a few minutes he hasn't gotten it out again. I would definately NOT recommend this

My 3 year old is very interested in space and LOVES this toy. Having said that one has to make sure that her child plays carefully with it----the payload doors don't really close, the robotic arm is a bit hard to use and the satellite dish on the truck is difficult to put back on. Meets the need for a realistic shuttle, though.

The shuttle bay door will fall off in no time. The booster rockets will be next. The ability to stand it up on the launch pad will last a few days at best. And the robot arm is cheap garbage. This is my experience with a 4 year old boy, but it applies to all ages.

We have been searching for a shuttle for a year now and are glad to have found this one. The shuttle itself is durable, yet safe enough for my one year old to play with as well as my older two. They love to fly around, dropping off the rocket boosters and the re-landing on the launch pad. The space vehicle and astonauts are an added bonus, even though they do not fit together. As a first shuttle toy, you can't beat it!

Not built for the regular play of 5-9 year old kids,

The Shuttle was a good size, and my son has fun making the booster rockets fall off as it takes off, but I live in fear of the little plastic tabs that hold them on the shuttle breaking off. The set came with no instructions, so I have yet to figure out how the Satellite arm assembles and works. One of the wheels came off the shuttle in the first week (my son specifically requested a Shuttle with wheels, so he could land it). While we were able to get it on, it continues to fall off. They just did not make this "playable" for the kids who would be most interested ... 5-9 year olds.

My son is very into space and rockets right now (he's 3) so I thought that he would like this toy. That is an understatement! He LOVES this toy. Every piece is well made and has supplied him with hours of imaginative and inventive play!

This is the biggest piece of garbage!,
This review is from: Adventure Fleet Complex 39 Playset (Toy)
I purchased this item from the gift shop at the childrens science museum in Cambridge, Ma. Actually, I bought one and opened it for my 3 year old in the museum cafe, and immediately had to exchange it for a new one because it was missing the landing gear on the back right side. The new one lasted a total of 8 minutes before the front wheels broke off. Then three minutes later, the rear left wheel assembly fell apart and was lost. My son loved the shuttle anyway, so we took it back to the hotel, where the very next morning, the plastic peg that holds the orbiter onto the fuel tank snapped off. So here I am with a space shuttle that cost me $32+change, that wont stay on the tank, and is missing two wheels. I know that NASA did not engineer this thing, but I expected more than this from a museum store.
Oh, and all three parts in addition to every piece of the robotic arm/sattelite are choking hazards. Way to go people. It doesn't even make sence to have a metal shuttle while everything else is made from plastic. This is worse quality than those little wax animals that are made in front of your eyes in those 800 degree bubbles at the zoo.

This is a high quality toy and one of my 4 year old son's favorites! He loves to simulate take off by "jettisoning" the solid rock boosters and the external tank. At the same time, it is very easy for him to reassemble on his own - major plus for me! He also loves having the "launch pad" and vehicle for added imaginative play situations. He has spent hours playing with this set and it has even won out over several Star Wars toys.

I am going to start off by saying that this is not your avarage to. This is a collectors display toy. One that could displayed in an office. The shuttle is dicast, the boosters are removable, the bay doors open, it has the robotic arm that has a removable satellite, has retractable landing gear. The mobile command center truck is made of die cast as well. It has the pull back and go gears to make it move. The Orbitor sits on the famous pad 39/crawler. This is one sweet piece that you don't want to be without. This is also not something you can get at yourWal-Mart, Kmart . . . If you know anyone that follows our space program then this is something they will want to have. I have mine displayed in my office with my Saturn V.

My son loved this toy and was so excited when he first opened it. Unfortunately it is not as durable as it looks. The only part that has survived after 3 months use is the shuttle minus one door. The shuttle is made of heavy metal but the rest is cheap plastic. It sure was fun for him while it lasted.
