We first purchased Sunday Afternoon Adventure hats about ten years ago. Initially, we purchased them for wearing while working outside. My husband is very fair and has had trouble with small skin cancers, so we wanted hats that had more than just neck protection. When the order arrived instantly knew that we had found the perfect hats. The brims are wide enough to shade the eyes well, but not so wide that they interfere with vision. The brims are reinforced so they do not flop down into your face. They also block the sensation of the sun pounding on the top of the head. They are well ventilated so the head does not start feeling like it's in a sauna.

Since that original order, we have purchased additional hats to wear while traveling. These hats offer excellent sun and light rain protection, plus they are very durable. We have worn these hats in the tropical sun of Mexico and Hawaii, and on a trip to China. They do offer rain protection from warm tropical showers, but should not be confused with being an actual waterproof rain hat. If the angle of the sun is just right, it is possible to get a little bit of sunburn through the ventilation mesh, but not enough to have it represent a painful problem.

We just ordered a replacement for my husband's original hat. He is outdoors all the time, as we have a rural property that needs to be mowed and otherwise maintained. This hat has been out in the sun for years, and has been washed countless times. Just recently a small rip appeared on the crown - the fabric has finally showing its age.

If I could give this product 10 stars I would. It is an excellent buy.

This hat does everything described on the website. It is featherweight. It is adjustable. It is comfortable. The chinstrap is handy for windy days. I really like the fact that the brim is wide ALL the way around--some of the hats advertised on the Internet have neck protection, but the brim cuts crisply to the hairline (like a baseball cap) leaving the sides of the face and ears exposed to the sun. This hat is going to be a joy to wear. (I might have to order several.)

I love this hat! It has a wide brim, really shades the face. It has air vents, and the back hangs down to cover the neck or hair. There's an elastic band on the back of it to make it fit perfectly, and the chin strap is great, it is really sturdy, a locking type that you can tighten for the windy days, or let hang or even put behind your head for non-windy days. The unexpected perk was getting in the car and hot having the brim interfere with the back of the head and the car head-rest. This is a serious sun hat but looks pretty good. There's a little terry-cloth sweat band in the front. I bought one for my husband who doesn't like hats, but he will wear this one. I really like the chin strap, you can make it loose and let the hat hang down on your back when you go inside the store, so you won't lose it.

I just got back from Egypt and thanks to this hat I did not burn at all! I wore it from Cairo, out into the Sahara, down the Nile all the way to Aswan! The veil on the back gave my neck great coverage, and the brim is wide enough to shade my entire face but not block my view in any way. Good thing it has an adjustable chin strap, too, because I would have lost it during my camel ride around Giza and the pyramids had I not tightened it well;) It's a great hat, and was delivered in good time at a good price. I recommend this hat to anyone who works and plays out in the sun!!!

My husband and I first saw these hats in a local gardening shop. Thought the price was high but liked the looks of the hat so went on line to find a better price. Found it and ordered two to take on our trip to China. Hats arrived quickly in the mail just in time for the trip. Wore them everywhere and found them to be lightweight, comfortable. Kept out heads cool in the heat and loved the wide brim that kept sun out of our eyes. Worked very well as rain hats too!! The back drop kept sun and rain off of our necks.
Best hat ever and well worth the price. The lavender color helped my husband to spot me in the large crowds in China too.

Product is great, just as explained. Customer service was awesome and very helpful. Hat is just the right size and has a draw string that helps it stay on when it's windy. Great protection against the sun and cool.

It's a protective, good looking, comfortable, light, durable, outdoor hat. It accompanies our family everywhere: gardening, walking, hiking,farming, beach, mountain. Whatever you do outdoors and wherever you go.

I bought this hat based on the rave reviews posted here. It has it pros & cons as follows:

Pros

1. It is large and protects the wearer's face and neck from the sun.
2. It is nicely venilated.

Cons

1. The $36 price tag is too high for this hat.
2. It has nothing to hold its shape and arrived flat and wrinkled.

The ugly

It looks okay in the pictures, but it is one of the uglist hats I've seen. If you wear it in the back yard and don't mind looking like Soupy Sales, it will do the job for you.

I write a review about a hat that i use more than 3 years as a kayak padler in Israel, wich is "a very sunny country". I use my hat 3 times a week and it still looks very good. No doubt it protects me wonderful from the sun and even though it gets wet from the salty sea water it still looks great. Than i bougt one to my mom who works alot in the garden and this time i bought one to my sister-in-law, sport instructure who spends lots of hours out side, under the sun. Every one of them raccomend this hat. We rate - 4 stars and not 5 because it is to expensive.

I first learned about Sunday Afternoons Adventure Hat from my neighbor. He has fair skin, and is very sun-sensitive. He wears this hat outdoors all the time. This is the best sun hat I've ever found. It not only protects my ears, face, and nose, but the back of my neck as well. At the same time, it's very lightweight and packable. At first I hesitated at the price. But I now have two. I keep one in the car, ready for adventures any day of the week!
