Abby goes to say with family friends while her mother and future stepdad (who she hates) go on a business trip. She is embarrassed when she meets the family friends, and find they are a white couple with adopted fraternal twin black children. They learn to play together, she gets a glimpse into the world of multiracial families and what discrimination feels like. Together they discover a tunnel from the Underground Railroad days and the search for a treasure begins. She compares her life of soon to be living with a new stepdad, to how the twins feel about thier adoptive father.It is a wonderful girls adventure tale, full of action and feelings as well as learning about the world around her on the way. |
