having two whistles is great, as you hope, but never know, if you will get separated from your fellow hikers/campers, so the extra is appreciated. these whistles can be attached to zipper pulls, as well as keychains, etc.
these are quite loud! i did not think a small whistle would be this powerful, but i was mistaken. the bright color is also a plus.
excellent purchase for my emergency kit! highly recommended!
UPDATE: I need to say that over the years my high range hearing has been damaged to the point where it no longer exists. Whistles that I rate poorly MAY be loud to people with full range hearing, but the whistles I rate highly all have a lower frequency which I can easily hear. Something to think about; hunters and other people who have been exposed to very loud noises, like gunshots, may have damaged high range hearing, and may not hear your high pitched whistle. Whereas pretty much everybody can hear a lower pitched / lower frequency whistle. Plus, if I'm injured (think of a fall resulting in broken ribs)I will not be able to give my whistle a hard blow, so for me to rate it highly it must be LOUD without having to blow it hard. The Storm, and Windstorm for larger whistles, and the Acme 636 Safety whistle for a small whistle are the loudest whistles (that I have tested, and can hear) and DO NOT take a hard blow to make them loud.
I feel it's best feature is that it doesn't have a "pea" in it. That would prevent this whistle from being mistaken as a police whistle or a child playing with a whistle. I consider those important considerations if I'm stuck somewhere and trying to summon help.
The next best feature is the small size. This would fit just about anywhere you could place a book of matches. Being plastic, I wouldn't recommend placing this whistle on your key ring. Against the keys, getting smashed in your pocket or knocked around in a purse and I think it would likely break.
Probably not the very loudest whistle out there but it is as good as other smaller/flatter whistles that I own.
This whistle performs adequately (for it's size and shape) and is reasonably priced.
The main selling point of this whistle is that it will fit in small kits (like a pocket survival or first-aid kit) and can be worn on a necklace or piggy-backed onto a knife-sheath, or even a boonie hat or walking stick, without getting in the way. Throw one into your tackle-box or tape one underneath the seat of your dirt-bike. If you are going far out into the wilderness or on a water-craft, it is a no-brainer (and a very good idea) to take this simple signaling device along, with you.
Keep it on your person. ... A series of three long blasts, three times per minute, is the standard distress alert procedure. If you break a leg or get lost or stranded, in a remote locale, you will wish you had one of these and, since it costs very little and takes no space ... adds no weight ... There is no excuse not to have one close at hand ... Added bonus ... No batteries required !
Just as with Bic Lighters ... I keep several small whistles scattered throughout my kits and packs and I keep one on my charm necklace, along with a fire-steel, a button-light, and a few other handy items.

Produces a sharp, loud whistle when given a stiff burst of air. Very shrill, should be able to carry fairly well over surrounding noise. Read morePublished 18 days ago by nillafudge
Nice loud whistle. Perfect to keep close by in case of emergency.Published 28 days ago by Campchick
I use these for training my Shepherd mix. They don't pierce my ear drum, but my dog's reacts even from far away. They are thin - easy to carry and work in freezing weather. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Michelle
It's a whistle. It's loud. It's orange. It's light weight. I tie them to the lanyards on my flashlights.Published 1 month ago by Amazon Customer
Decent whistle... not quite a howler in terms of volume, but it's slim, lightweight and portable. I've got one in a first aid kit and another in a go bag. Worth the price.Published 1 month ago by N. Schafer
