Sam's Club had the best price.

The last board went on last night, five weeks to the day from when I received the four boxes and the slide. If you have a full-time job, have to go out of town one weekend and get rained out one weekend, doing it by yourself with occasional help from another person, working on it evenings and Saturdays, it will probably take you this long. I took a couple of days off from work to make up for the two lost Saturdays. If you choose to work on the Skyfort on Sundays (I didn't), you will finish faster. It is NOT hard! It is time consuming and just requires step by step organization. (See below about organizing yourself for each step or page.) If you like building scale model kits just pretend you are working on a full scale model, for the grandkids no less, and it is fun.

If you don't want an 18 wheeler in your driveway, agree to meet the truck at a parking lot near you and tran-sload the boxes. The boxes are 8 feet long and will fit two wide in a pickup bed. The slide is 10 ft, so you'll have to secure it with a cargo strap.

Following are extracts of "best recommendations" I used from earlier buyers as I was going along, plus my additional comments after having completed the project;

"Two errors in the manual...you must complete step 13 before step 12, and you will have to drill holes in step 88." We recommend getting the sand box floor kit. We used sand for our safety zone, so there was no need for the sand box under the tower. The full floor on the bottom makes the picnic table area nicer and not so crowded. If you install the optional floor kit, make sure the center support board lines up with the pre-drilled holes in the floor boards.

I photographed our adventure with this playset- you can find all the photos on Flickr, just look for SilvAhyla and I have a set dedicated to it. (I uploaded 3 of the photos here on Amazon)

I love this playset. It's so much better in person then the advertised. Perhaps it's because my own time and work went into it, but it just seems... bigger? Every area of this playset is entertaining. My husband and I put it together by ourselves. My job was mostly organizing the pieces and making sure the screws/bolts/hardware/tools were prepared for the next step. I would also help my husband hold the pieces together when it required more then 2 hands to hold and use the tools.

Having the stuff ready for the next step in advance made it quicker to put together. Before we ever started we also organized all the wood (in groups- by alphabets, and then numerical) to make finding the pieces quick and easy. We also had the screws/bolts/hardware etc organized by type anywhere we were for easy find while I set up the next step. Organizers probably would have been easier, but I didn't want to spend the extra money.

The directions were decently straight forward- each page shows what pieces are being used for the steps on that page, and the pictures helped and allowed me to count how many of each screws/bolts/etc were going to be needed for the step. Sometimes I'd get stopped and have to read the directions several times to be sure I had it right, but for the most part- easy going.
-- There were a few steps that did stop us, though. One specifically being Step 88 (listed by the last reviewer) where it says the spike nut was put in previously through the board.

My wife and I researched swing sets and decided on this one. For the price, it is an excellent value and our four year old loves it. I thought twice before writing a review but decided to do so as I read reviews from others that had experienced the long assembly and found them helpful. I ordered it from Sam's Club and a week later four boxes arrived. At the time the website had the one piece slide on the picture and the directions said shipping included four boxes and a slide. Turns out they hadn't updated the website, so FYI...The slide is in box number 1. Only complaint about shipping was one board was slightly damaged. No big deal, on with the project. We decided to seal all the pieces prior to starting as it is easier than once it's together. We used Thompson's and if I could do it over, I'd use CWF clear. Thompson's is very oily and we needed to set the wood in my shop w/ heaters as it takes two days at above 50 degrees to cure. Still learning here...The next preventative step I did was to spray the bottom of every piece that contacts the ground with rubberized undercoating. The directions say the wood is cedar, but it's Chinese cedar and I'm not sure how bug resistant it is. The undercoating will keep the water and bugs out forever and that's piece of mind for me.

Assembling this thing was a headache. The directions are confusing and I'm not saying how many times I threw the manual in disgust. A tip: go online to Sam's and look at the manual on your PC. The pictures are clear and you'll have a much easier time figuring out orientation. We put the PDF on my tablet and had it available on site. Make sure you avoid this mess: Level the area and anchor the frame in four places BEFORE starting to build.
