One Of The Best!!!,
By
This review is from: Adventures Beyond the Body: How to Experience Out-of-Body Travel (Paperback)
While I admire the writings of Robert Monroe immensely I have to admit that he may be a little confusing for beginners, who may not fully understand or appreciate his terminology, or find it a bit dry. Not so with William Buhlman's book, which details not only his fascinating experiences but does something that no other book I've ever read on this subject has done, which is to explain this incredible experience scientifically by drawing comparisons to quantum physics. At first I thought this would be confusing, and perhaps a bit boring, but to my surprise I found it not only insightful, but downright fascinating. Buhlman has a great talent for taking a difficult and hard-to-understand topic and bringing it down to earth. In my opnion, not only the best INSTRUCTIONAL book on the subject, but the best BOOK on the subject. Period!

The Astral Travel Bible!,

This review is from: Adventures Beyond the Body: How to Experience Out-of-Body Travel (Paperback)
Being interested in the occult, life after death and related matters for years, and after wasting much time (and money) on at least a dozen other books about OOBE's, I finally found this brilliant work. Buhlman's descriptions are so easy to read....I felt as if one of my friends was sitting there teaching the subject to me, totally unlike many of the other pretentious, self-absorbed works that are available. You don't have to read the entire book to know that Buhlman is correct. Many of the initial phases of an OOBE will be so familiar to experiences that most people have already had that your doubts will be quickly dispelled. I cannot speak too highly of this book, and I can guarantee you that, if you follow the methods listed, this book will have a more profound effect upon you than anything else you've ever read.

This review is from: Adventures Beyond the Body: How to Experience Out-of-Body Travel (Paperback)
I bought this book because I was interested in the subject and it was published by HarperCollins... Most OBE books are filled with mumbo jumbo and panty waste New Age B.S... This book had exercises that read like a pilot's instruction manual... I tried a few just before I went to sleep for about two weeks every night... Low and behold I woke up in the dream state, climbed out of my body and walked around my apartment!.. If you don't believe it buy the book and try it yourself you skeptical stick in the mud... I only did it twice but it was enough to make me realize there is more going on than what we puny mortals may imagine... I actually got a little spooked and quit the exercises... I thought I could be playing around with occult powers I wasn't prepared for... The Tibetans claim you need a guru to initiate you into this kind of thing... Be careful... Read this book at your own risk...

Interesting OOB techniques and experiences,
By A Customer
This review is from: Adventures Beyond the Body: How to Experience Out-of-Body Travel (Paperback)
I found this book quite interesting--though, to be honest, this was the only book I've read on OOB's so far. His experiences are interesting and inspiring. The author also details some physics theories--black holes, energy matter, and such, which I found interesting, though you may need to read those parts a couple of times to understand what those principles are.Overall, this what a very readable, easy-to-understand book. The only thing I found sort of confusing was his chapter order. For instance, he details his OOB experiences, then veers off on the metaphysics for several chapters before getting back to how to achieve OOB's (which is what most of us buy the book for). Though I haven't yet experienced a true OOB, I found his suggestion to give it 30 minutes a day for a month reasonable. So far I've had a very close almost-experience (the vibrations and roaring sound). Oh--one other thing, that he doesn't get into much that one interested in achieving an OOBE should be aware of-- when he talks about the vibrations and sound, you probably won't experience that right away after trying. I mean, you won't go from visualization technique/meditation to all of a sudden being able to 'leave your body'. Not as a beginner. You need to first actually fall asleep (even if it's only for two seconds), and then when you 'awake' you'll probably find yourself being able to move your nonphysical limbs (try pushing your arms through your mattress--it's a nifty feeling). Then, right away focus on a separation technique (he lists several). You'll feel like you're a rocket, but if there's no outside distractions (unfortunately there was for me during that critical stage), you should have no problem! What I learned from this book, to put it somewhat concisely, is: write down an affirmation 50 or so times (he provides suggested affirmations) during the day that you want to achieve an OOB. Go to bed not expecting to achieve an OOB, just focus on getting closer--more relaxed, concentrating on whatever technique you choose. After you wake up to go to the bathroom in the early morning hours, repeat this affirmation as you drift back off to sleep. You might be surprised, but after you have another REM dream period, you may wake to find yourself OOB. By the way, you'll know when you're ready for separation. It's not a slight tingling or waves of vibrations (which I spent many frustrating times trying to use as my separation point). It's a full throttle sensation. At the very least, this book is quick-reading and will alter your perceptions of reality. Good luck!

What can I say? Wow...,

This review is from: Adventures Beyond the Body: How to Experience Out-of-Body Travel (Paperback)
I bought this book because I wanted to read a book that would teach me how to experience out-of-body travel. Instead I found a completely different teaching.Buhlam does give (I think) very good ways to induce astral projection. However, if you're expecting a step-by-step course, this is not where you will find it. Most of the work will have to be done by yourself. But this is only a matter of motivation and responsibility. So this comment should not seen as an argument against reading the book. The big surprise for me was in the multiple journal entries that Buhlman shares with us. I found them fascinating! They make up an adventure novel all by themselves. I might also define them as a roadmap to the astral dimensions. We all are looking for teachings in the books we read, and hopefully those teachings allow us to take small steps toward wisdom. In this perspective, I am convinced that there is the right time for every book we read. So I will refrain from writing something like 'you must read this book'. You must make up your own mind. But if you feel ready for the kind of teachings I just described, then don't hesitate.

Curious about out of body travel? Want to go? Buy this book,

This review is from: Adventures Beyond the Body: How to Experience Out-of-Body Travel (Paperback)
The general publics understanding of out of body travel is little understood. To most, it is a fringe and non scientific subject. To those who have experienced leaving their bodies and being on the 'other side' while fully conscious, it is one of the most illuminating experiences of their lives. This book is the proper text to help you understand this most natural and personal experience. Buhlman is a caring and first rate teacher. I read the book, understood, and was soon out of body myself. This is an empowering and extraordinary book.

Well rounded introduction to Astral Projection,
By
This review is from: Adventures Beyond the Body: How to Experience Out-of-Body Travel (Paperback)
In this book, Buhlman, describes his experiences based on years of astral projections, outlines his theory of the universe as it compares to currently held scientific beliefs, and provides instructions for how, you too can learn to leave your physical body. The experiences he describes are fascinating and he appears to have thought through the implications of out-of-body travel much more than most who do it, - attempting to fit it into a broader unified theory of the universe if you will. As for instruction, the basic steps he outlines in the book for having an out-of-body experience (or Astral Projection) are 1) getting into a light trance state, 2) getting into a vibrational state, where you feel vibrations pulsating through your body, and then 3) seperating your astral body from your physical body. Buhlman gives a variety of techniques for accomplishing each of these steps. Additionally, Buhlman discusses how religious and cultural beliefs, fear, etc. factor into one's ability to do this and the experience they'll have. Employing the techniques in the book I found getting into a light trance fairly easy, and after about 2 weeks I got to the "vibrational" state he describes, which was quite bizarre in itself. Despite more attempts though I wasn't actually able to leave my body until I tried some other techniques that I found on the web - but I'm guessing if i just stuck to his techniques it would have worked also. Since reading this book I've read many others on the subject, and I think this one is a great starting point - much better than the myriad of 98-page "How to have an OBE" books available, but easier to get your arms around than something as voluminous as Bruce's "Astral Dynamics". Ultimately, an interesting and thought-provoking read.

It works if you follow the rules!,

This review is from: Adventures Beyond the Body: How to Experience Out-of-Body Travel (Paperback)
Now I am reading two books on astral projection "ASTRAL DYNAMICS" by Robert Bruce and "ADVENTURES BEYOND THE BODY" by William Buhlman.I find them quite helpful because yesterday I had my first out-of-body experience (OBE). Every time before I go to bed, I relax and do some exercises from the books. But it never helped me leave my body... Till yesterday morning when I waked up and felt as some inner part of me along with my consciousness started to slide off my body as a glove from a hand. I soared over my bed and realized that I could see nothing. I said to myself, "I want to see!" and suddenly everything became clear and bright. I was in my room but it had some minor difference from my real room. (The books say it could be one of those astral words which is close to our world). I flied up to the window, looked around and then decided to come back in my body because the authors do not recommend to do long trips in the first OBE. So I flied up to my body, thinking of it, and returned back. It was not a dream or lucid dreaming. I know the difference. But it also did not look like a real life experience. I am still stumped for an answer about the true nature of my experience. Though it was interesting. I have read a couple of other books about OBE/astral projection but to me, the most informative and helpful were "ASTRAL DYNAMICS" and "ADVENTURES BEYOND THE BODY." If it worked for me, it can work for you. Just be positive, do the exercises and sooner or later you will have your first OBE. Though ask yourself first if you really need it. (I am not from an English speaking country, so please excuse my poor English).

This review is from: Adventures Beyond the Body: Music for Out-of-Body Travel (CD-ROM)
The CDs in this set produce a vibrational level I have never felt before! I was vibrated right out of the room! This set goes along with a book and audio cassette program, which together have released me into the other universe just beyond the normal one. I highly recommend it.
