Book Description

One of the most important psychics of the twentieth century, Jane Roberts spoke for Seth the "energy essence personality no longer focused in physical reality." In her groundbreaking book, Adventures in Consciousness, Roberts sets out to explore the nature of alternate states of consciousness, such as trance-mediumship, ESP, Ouija board messages, out-of-body experiences, dreams, and reincarnational dramas. She asks brilliant new questions and develops an exciting theory of consciousness: aspect psychology. In addition, her anecdotes and practical information help us develop our own "psychic" abilities.

Editorial Reviews

Review

As a physicist I have long been amazed at the insights into the workings of the universe Jane Roberts discovered through the "personality" known as Seth. In Adventures in Consciousness, she shows us how a whole new "aspect psychology" can be built in which the "psychic" elements of reality are not denied as they usually are in today's science. . . . For anyone interested in the psychic elements of reality, this is a must-read. -- Fred Alan Wolf, American-Book Award winning author of Taking the Quantum Leap and The Spiritual Universe

In developing and exploring her extraordinary gifts, Jane left behind the comforts of virtually every institution of accepted thought, including conventional science, religion, the literary world she once yearned to win over, the role models of her time, and evenor especiallythe traditional spiritualist and mediumistic ideas that only served to embarrass her. In this brave and brilliant book, Jane plows right over old ground and not only asks new questions, but creates a stunning paradigm of consciousness that becomes even more original as time goes by. -- Susan M. Watkins, author of Conversations with Seth

Jane Roberts possessed a combination of psychic talent and intellectual curiosity that contributed enormously to our understanding of human consciousness. -- Norman Friedman, author of Bridging Science and Spirit and The Hidden Domain

There are times while reading Adventures in Consciousness that you will have that moment of insight when, for an instant, you catch a glimpse of the enormity, the beauty, of the human psyche. And with that experience you recognize the exciting complexity of your own individual psyche. Mind-expanding. -- Lynda Dahl, award-winning author of Beyond Winning Streak and Ten Thousand Whispers --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Publisher

In her lifetime, psychic Jane Roberts was visited by every kind of layperson and scientist. The Jane Roberts/Seth material, now housed in the Yale University Archives is consistently one of the top two collections visited. One can't help but be awed by her genius and her courage: She dared to ask new questions and they brought her exciting new insights. Because of her contribution to the study of consciousness, Moment Point has dedicated our Classics in Consciousness series to Roberts. We are also publishing, as part of this new series, Roberts's books Psychic Politics and The God of Jane (Fall 1999 and Spring 2000 respectively). --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars review of Adventures in Consciousness by Jane Roberts, August 11, 2007
This book is a breath of fresh air in terms of tackling areas of the human psyche that other psychology books are either silent on or dismiss without any kind of investigation. The author ventures into areas of human experience that we all have encountered in some form or another and for which we have no official explanation. She approaches the subject in an open, courageous, intelligent way, asking the kinds of questions that lead beyond the narrow confines of what is commonly accepted as reality. A mind blowing adventure in expansion of consciousness without drugs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good to hear Jane Speak, June 19, 2000

After reading all the Seth books it is goodto hear Jane. She offers great insight into the Seth works. This is her first book on "Aspect Psychology" which by it's definition sounds a lot like "Transpersonal Psychology". She explains many of Seth's concepts on the self but curiously she manufactures her own terms instead of using the ones Seth readers are familiar with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Question while Questing +++, October 21, 2009
Question while Questing. Jane Roberts is a very rare type of person who is willing to deeply explore known and unknown areas of being -- while staying both critical and curious. While being somewhat interested in her "Seth" books -- as time flows onward I value Jane Roberts-in-her-own-words as much or more than "Seth". Question while Questing thru Jane Roberts or "Seth" -- and one may gain some valuable old and new views on aspects of being. This Aspect Psychology book is very coherent and concise as compared to the "Seth" books and, at least, complements those -- as a wanted [or needed] guidebook. The various clear diagrams and their sharp rational explanations are especially Inspiring for me. Aspect Psychology seems to go far in the direction where Science meets Religion and Truth meets Faith. It also seems in quite good harmony with Psychosynthesis [founded by Assagioli]. Jane Roberts also has written a follow-on Aspect Psychology book called "Psychic Politics". Question while Questing +++
