5.0 out of 5 stars Confused, but happy
Some will not like this book, but I found it quite creative. And our children need a little more creativity in their lives. So what if cow thinks the goat is a pig -- just laugh and explain to your child that this book is a little bit silly. We could all use a little more sense of humor too. I have recently written a children's book about using your imagination and I'm...

3.0 out of 5 stars Love It
We got this for my 6yr old, when she was 4yrs old. She thought it was funny then, and still thinks it's funny now. Great book!

4.0 out of 5 stars FUN FOR ADULTS, January 26, 2006
By
katy89 (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Adventures of Cow (Hardcover)
I must say, The Adventures of Cow isn't for everyone. My roommate and I discovered it and were laughing hysterically in the aise of the bookstore... of course we're both around age 30. We immediately purchased the book and it's now sitting in our guest bathroom for the amusement of all of our adult guests.. right next to "Everyone Poops".

I have to wonder if Lori Korchek truly intended this to be a children's book, or to be entertainment for adults with an off-beat sense of humor. I also wonder if she was under the influence of any chemicals during this book's conception.

I have recently written a children's book about using your imagination and I'm jealous that I didn't write this one -- I think it is an outrageously cool idea. I can't wait to see more of cow's adventures.

4.0 out of 5 stars Silly Fun, August 25, 2005
This review is from: Adventures of Cow (Hardcover)
My four year thinks this book is hysterically funny. He loves to scathingly say, "That's not a cat!" or "Those aren't frogs!" and then howl with laughter. He memorized the entire book the first day, and we've read it at least twice (me to him, then him to me) each and every evening since we got it.

The simple text makes this a good early reader (though under-fours may be confused because the text doesn't match the picture...ie, "Cow asked a couple of pigs" is under a picture of horses, but older preschoolers will get the silly joke.)

5.0 out of 5 stars a hoot - for all ages, November 19, 2005
This review is from: Adventures of Cow (Hardcover)
I (aged 38) read this aloud to a 6 y.o., 7 y.o., 10 y.o., 22 y.o., and 58 y.o. and we all loved it. Everyone in this group "got it" and thought Cow was a hoot. We can't wait to see where she goes next.

4.0 out of 5 stars Absurdist Humor for Kids, November 8, 2005
By
This review is from: Adventures of Cow (Hardcover)
The fact that that Fyodor Dostoevsky gets a thank you in this book is a tip off to it's absurdist nature. Readers of all ages will find it's post-modern sensibilities either delightful or confounding. Until Ionesco writes a children's book, this is it.

5.0 out of 5 stars adventures of cow, March 10, 2005

This review is from: Adventures of Cow (Hardcover)
Cow makes a great gift. My sister's two daughters are in the right age range for Adventures of Cow and they really got a kick out of it. At first, their brows furrowed--like, somthin's not right here! Poor cow. And then they got it. Both girls laughed out loud to the end. If the authors read customer reviews, listen up: are you planning a sequel? I sure hope so because I'm from a big family and they all have kids. Cow is kinda off-beat and that's the sort of present my neices and nephews expect from their Uncle John.

Sure it's a children's' book, but adults like it too. Put it out on the coffee table, no one can resist reading it all the way through!

5.0 out of 5 stars I peed a little, September 26, 2006
By
This review is from: Adventures of Cow (Hardcover)
I will be real sad if my kid, when she learns to talk, is confused by this book. That would mean she won't have a sense of humor, ergo she was switched at birth and isn't mine. This book is so cute and so effing funny, I cried. "What a sweet, naive squish cow that doesn't get out much," I thought. I can't believe that someone couldnt like this book. That would mean they don't like funny and they don't like cows. I mean, the "twins" are a salt and pepper shaker. For the love of Steve, that is really funny and I think all kids should think so. I can't wait to see what cow does next....I would have given this book 6 stars (if I could have borrowed a star from somewhere else) if it was a board book so my kid could chew on it as much as she does Good Night, Gorilla. Yeah, that gorilla lets wild animals out of there zoo cages. That's not funny. That is just plain dangerous. And these are the books we let our children chew on? I pray for the future....

5.0 out of 5 stars imagination, March 28, 2005
This review is from: Adventures of Cow (Hardcover)
Finally a childrens book that deals with strories placed in reality and triggers the imagination of the young minds.
Not every book for young readers has to be drawn. This story shows how you can let your fantasie play using everyday situations and settings.
It's just wonderful. Hope there will be more stories by cow.
Thanks.
