GREATEST EMCEE OF ALL TIME?!?!,

I have to go ahead and agree with Nas' opinion that Kris is the greatest emcee of all time. I was a little concerned when I saw this release has so many tracks. Usually when there over 12 tracks there is a lot of filler or weak tracks. Not the case with this album. I pretty much love this release from beginning to end with the exception of the strange hook on Gro---oh and i don't like the last track WACHANOABOUT at all. The message for the song is dope but the rock track ruins it for me. This album gives you knowledge, dope styles/rhymes, as well as appearances from chuck D and MC Lyte. I was hoping Nas was going to rip a track with Kris but just got an intro from him. This album is very consistent with Kris' releases and is definitely an asset to any collection.
Go to tracks for me are: BETTER AND BETTER REAL HIP HOP I GOT YOU ALRIGHT DON'T GIVE IT UP

Kris brought it to 'em! When I first saw this advertised I went, 'Ok another KRS album. Boy did my excitement escalate several notches after I first rocked it! This is a very good release! Busta made mention how artist both old and new school have to find a balance with dope rhymes and bust your lips beats. Hey Busta, KRS answered the call! 'I got cha' is on some of that mad crew science. 'Money' with MC Lyte slams indeed and makes me thirsty for a release from her before it is too late. But that last verse on the 'The Teacha Returns' oooooooooooh! Don't none of these goofy laffy taffy, bounce happy rappers today want any of Kris! He will slay them! All in all, DO NOT SLEEP AND COP THIS. I liked 'Hip Hop Lives' but this release should have had that title!

The Teacha RETURNS!,

KRS-One has done it again in this soulja boy 2008 era of hip-hop! He continues to ignore what's out and popular and re-establishes his own name brand of hip-hop! There's 20 tracks on this album with intro appearances by Chuck D..MC Lyte(who does the chorus on the track "Money") and Nas who I wish would have spit his bars right along side the one he calls the Greatest To Ever Do It..and he also mentions that he's from Queensbridge saying that! It just goes to show that "The Teacha" is so dope he has respect from any area even those that he has attacked in the past! Some of the standout tracks are: Today's Topics....Money....The Teacha Returns.....What's Your Plan.....It's All Love....and I Got You...but most of the tracks are good with the exception of about 3 filler tracks which is why I gave it 4 stars! I actually do like this release better than Hip-Hop Lives with Marley Marl which was also a decent effort from Kris! If your a KRS fan from the beginning like myself or your just getting your introduction you should add this to your music collection either way and let's celebrate The Return of the TEACHA!

Don't let the weak cover art fool you, this is a top-notch release by KRS. This album is packed full of high-quality full-length tracks of KRS just tearing it up with his patented lyricism. Only 2 songs are ones I'd skip, which is amazing since there are over 20 songs on the album.
BUT...the best thing about this album is that Kris really brought the beats on this one! When you buy a KRS-ONE album you know you are going to get great lyrics. But, for me, you always wonder if the beats and production are going to match the quality of the lyrics. Well, this album has great beats throughout. Chuck D, MC Lyte, Rakim, Nas and a few others make appearances on the album as well. These are short intros except for MC Lyte who shares the track equally with KRS on Track #4. Lyrically, this album covers both familiar and unfamiliar topics. KRS rips against pop rappers, DJs, and the industry that is helping to destroy hip-hop...this is the familiar territory. But he also covers the Iraq war, the influence of money etc. So it is a good balance. Overall, this is a solid album that raises the bar of what you would expect from a post-BDP KRS-ONE album. Buy it!

KRS-ONE "Adventures In Emceein"- 4 Stars,

KRS-One is a living legend of hip hop. He could quite possibly be the greatest hip hop artist ever. In 2008, he put out his 18th studio album (counting the six he created with the group Boogie Down Productions), "Adventures In Emceein". Lyrics basically do not need to be reviewed on a KRS-One album; he always comes correct. KRS-One always has great lyrics on just about every song he has ever put out, but his past few outings have had some lackluster production. Well, the same can be said about this release. Don't get me wrong, a good majority of the songs are fine, but there are others that sound like they should be playing in the club, not with KRS rapping over them. That being said, there is some filler on this album that takes away from the overall sound. KRS brings in a few hip hop legends such as Chuck D, Nas, Rakim, and MC Lyte on the album. The fist three mentioned only have speaking parts and do not help out on an actual song. MC Lyte does the chorus on the song "Money", and does a great job. The other guests include Pee Doe, Keith Stewart, and Just Blaze. KRS-One, although being over 40 years old now, still has a knack for putting out music that is a breath of fresh air for modern hip hop. Mr. Kris Parker, please don't ever change.

Another amazing release by the master! Never ceases to amaze me the endless creativity of KRS. Tons of interesting material on here, and an overall very positive vibe. So much love coming through this album! "All My Love" has me in tears nearly every time! "Over 30" remix is killer. "All Right" is a parable rap involving a near death experience. "Whachanoabout" nails the rock/rap fusion without a bit of cheese. KRS is hitting on every level, getting better and better!
The production on this album also deserves mention. Lots of interesting styles are present on this album, and it sounds both modern and old-school, which is awesome. I wish the production wasn't quite so compressed - I really like the open sound of KRS's "Life" album - but that's a very minor complaint on an otherwise terrific album.

When I analyze a KRS One album, it usually starts with the production since KRS is lyrically on point more often than not. This time around, the production is stronger than his last couple of solos, but it still lacks in certain areas. KRS has been doing this for 21 years now, so you pretty much know what his steelo is and he comes correct again. That's pretty much all I can add to the positives -- strong beats and dope lyrics. You can always expect that from the Blastmaster.
There are a few duds on the album though. When you put out material at a pace that KRS does, this should be anticipated due to it becoming a habit on his last 4 or 5 albums (if not more so). "Watch This!" sounded kind of corny due to some weak, clubbed out production -- the same can be said for "All Right" and "Over 30 (Remix)." I mean, KRS can ride pretty much any beat you put in front of him, but the production on those tracks was uninspired. There are maybe 3 or 4 other forgettable tracks, but nothing bad enough to warrant a mention. KRS is releasing an album with Buckshot, I'm hoping the production that BCC brings to the table will be meatier and better suited to the hardcore styles that KRS excels over. Adventures In Emceein' is a strong release from the living legend. The production can fluctuate between solid to boring, but since KRS comes strong on the mic, I'd have to say that the overall package is worth a purchase. It should please longtime fans, but I would recommend that newcomers start elsewhere while on their quest to familiarize themselves with the Teacha. The lyrics are still sharp, but the production is iffy. I'd still recommend adding this one to your music library though. Standout Tracks: Money feat. MC Lyte, What's Your Plan?, We Dem Teachas feat. Keith Stewart, Our Soldiers feat. CX, and The Teacha Returns

Hip Hop is something you DO!!!,

And nobody DOES Hip Hop better than KRS-O.N.E. The man can "battle", "brag" and "educate" all on the same song. Every song is....wait for it...DIFFERENT, original and does not repeat the same line over and over. Over 20 years in the game and ALL of the fake rappers have gone by the wayside.
"Our Soldiers" should become the national anthem for bring our troops home. Every "alleged" Hip Hop radio station should be bumping this CD. The REAL Hip Hop is over here!!!

again and again, KRS brings the real raw "rah rah" hip hop. If you want to dance and sing, this is not for you. KRS is for the true hip hop community that remains with the original art form. It's to listen to, rap along with, head nod to the heavy beats...that's it!
