5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING CD
Adventures in Eville is such a amazing cd. The band has come along way from their first record in 06 and this new record shows it. Some of the new songs surprised me. I highly recommend this cd to anyone who loves Eleventyseven or just wants a good cd to dance to.

3.0 out of 5 stars for 5.99..I guess its worth getting-
From front cover to last I song I give "Adventures In Eville" '?' 3 out of 5 stars

If this band really wants to make main-stream they need new ideas and new management-
The *overall* Lyrics & Music are O.K but everything from song titles to cover design are subpar at best-

Have these people heard of iTunes?- Amazon.com..Really?

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Stunning!, June 9, 2009
By
Kyle Constable (Southwest Georgia, USA) - See all my reviews
I must say, Eleventyseven has reached a new best with this album. They bridged the gap between, "And The Land of Fake Believe" and, "Galactic Conquest." On, "And The Land of Fake Believe" we found an emerging punk band with great potential. Then, on their sophomore album, "Galactic Conquest" they proved they could reach beyond their punk music and created techno songs like, "Love in Your Arms" and, "Galaxies Collide." Their latest masterpiece, "Adventures in Eville" takes the best of both albums and gives you what I call, "electro punk."

The opening song, "Nightmare" has a Switchfoot/Relient k/Everyday Sunday feel to it. It kicks off the album with a bang, cleverly mixing synthesizers and guitars to form a pure genius, upbeat, sing and dance along song.

"The Best I Can" slows it down a bit, but doesn't lose the energy of the album. It takes powerful synthesizers to create a deep feeling to it, while mixing in guitars. It gives off the kind of feeling that you would find in the Eleventyseven hit, "Nostalgatopia."

It thens moves into the third track, "Evil Genius." Another very techno song with a strong beat and witty lyrics. One of the best on the album for sure!

The fourth song, "Trying" is a monumental achievement for Eleventyseven. We've seen deep songs from them like, "Here With Me", "Reach That Far" or, "It's Beautiful" but nothing like this. It mixes strong guitar riffs with moving synthesizers and deep and moving lyrics. It is a MUST HAVE off of this album.

The fifth song, "Redeem the Scene" is interesting to say the least. It starts out with DJ and kicks into an intense guitar riff. It is an upbeat song, but cannot compete with some of the previous songs on the album.

The sixth song, "Prom Song" is a cute song about the Senior Prom. It has powerful guitars riffs and synthesizers. Great job on vocals by Matt.

The seventh song, "Lonely Word" is one of two love songs of the CD. It has great synthesizers and great guitar work and very upbeat. It is another great hit by Eleventyseven.

"Back When We Were Kids" is a nostalgic song, thinking back to the days of childhood. Almost every person can relate to the song and is a must have just for the lyrics.

The ninth song, "Like You Rock" starts off with a moving guitar riff and then a synthesizer kicks in. With powerful guitars and entertaining synthesizers and the vocal effects, it is a great song about being different from everyone else.

The tenth and final song, "End of Time" starts out with a deep piano melody and followed by a variety of synthesizers kicking in. It is a lyrically and musically beautiful slow song. It's that song that you imagine kicking in right at the kissing scene in a movie. I would rank this in the top 3 songs on the album.

My Song Rankings:

1. Nightmare (*****)
2. Trying (*****)
3. End of Time (*****)
4. Evil Genius (*****)
5. Like You Rock (*****)
6. Back When We Were Kids (*****)
7. Lonely Word (****)
8. Prom Song (****)
9. The Best I Can (****)
10. Redeem the Scene (***)

Overall Album Rating: 4.5 stars (rounded to 5 stars)

4.0 out of 5 stars Devilishly fun, February 11, 2010

This album is a lot of fun, which is really the point of the genre. The songs are not too heavy, not too serious, not too deep. If you're looking for any album that will make you think and touch you on a spiritual level, this isn't it. That being said, it is energetic, stylistically unique, and (above all) lyrically clever (as in, I almost ran my car off the road I was laughing so hard during the chorus of "Evil Genius"). Ultimately, this is eleventyseven doing what they do for those who like what they do. If you do, this album is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who knew third times a charm!, February 9, 2010

From what I hear this is an independently produced album, and I must say when I heard that I was worried that it might not be that good. Much to my surprise this is the best album Eleventyseven has made yet. The quality of a high level production is there, but with a free spirit of uninhibited creativity that is sometimes stifled by corporate labels.

This album from the first to last song is a blast, with strong retro and electronic influence all the while incorporating the usual Eleventyseven pop. It's an all around fun album while keeping things light. If you like Eleventyseven you will love this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, January 29, 2010

Eleventyseven's "Adventures in Eville" has an interesting sound to them. Even though they are listed as being a punk-pop band, I can distinctively pick up on what seems to be the synthesizer keyboards (kind of like in the 80's and early 90's), and a bit of a "dance house" or "electronica" feel to some of their songs - "Trying" and at least one or two others that I heard - which I thought was very nice. Too bad that Amazon only gives a 29-second snippet of a song per track, as I would have liked to listen to a bit more to give a more accurate review. But, from what I did hear, this is a decent album.

4.0 out of 5 stars A simply fun album, August 28, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
While I certainly wouldn't call this album a masterpiece it is massively entertaining. The synthesized tunes and guitar riffs are super catchy and the lyrics are fun and innocent. Cyborg Robot Squirrels? Come on, how awesome is that?
*Note: While this band has ended up in the Christian genre of rock I would honestly have a hard time labeling it as such based solely on lyricaly content. Thats not a cut or anything because the lyrics aren't bad at all but simpply in observation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD!!! One thing though..., June 13, 2009

I completely LOVE this CD!!! I'm the kind of person that likes all kinds of music, whether it be rap, rock, hip hop, reggaeton, etc, just as long as it brings praise to God. And that brings me to a very important point. Adventures in Eville, although an album full of great sound, is an album almost empty of true Christian references, unlike Galatic Conquest, which I loved and I could rock to it knowing that I could even praise God while doing it. However, I really can't say the same thing with Adventures in Eville. MOST of the songs lack any spiritual reference, such as Evil Genius, Prom Song, and some others. The song that has an entire Christian theme is End of Time, and songs like Nightmare and Like You Rock also have Christian themes. Now, don't get me wrong! I LOVE every track in this album, and for now it's almost all I listen to in my car! However, I would have liked it more if the album would have had more references to God and His saving work!

Would I buy more Evelentyseven music? Of course I would! I just would like more of a sound that fits more the Christian theme this is under and not just another electropop album that could be found almost anywhere in the secular world.

However, if you buy this album, you won't be disappointed!

This CD is fun and easy listening. The songs are catchy and the lyrics are awesome. My favorite song from the album is End of Time. Eleventyseven reminds me of Family Force 5 and Relient K. Its a great CD for teens. I'd def recommend this to my friends!
