The Power of God Through The Amazing John G. Lake,
By Peter Shultis (Auburn, Washington) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Adventures in God (Paperback)
Read from the very hand of John G. Lake some of his incredible adventures with God. He gives great insight into his ministry. Of great interest is his 8 point commitment to the Lord. A key secret to the power of God operating through him was the deep level of personal integrity that Lake held himself to. Lake's accomplisments; like the establishment of 625 churches in Africa in just 4 years of ministry there. WOW This speaks to what the power of God will do from one ministry that flows in the miracle power of God. Lake is a man wonderfully unique, yet one who can be an example that challenges each of us. God can do the same things through you and me !

Faith lifting and compelling.,

This review is from: Adventures in God (Paperback)
I found this small book to be very uplifting. John G. Lake was a gentle, loving servant of God. Who was used to perform unforgetable healings. Everywhere he ministered, God did miracles in the lives of those he prayed for. When Medical Science gave up on them, God intervined through the laying on of hands and they were healed. This book will build your faith. Don't miss reading it for yourself.

FAITH FOR FAITH,
This review is from: Adventures in God (Paperback)
John Grahamme Lake remains one of my fondest Apostlic ministers of the early 19th century. Just the revelation of compassionate faith that he shared in his time is something today's christian leader and indeed lay-man, can glean from. As you read this account you'll notice that the title is an accurate description of this man's experiences with God. He strongly believed that compassion is essentially linked with faith, especially in the areas of healing and deliverance; an ingridient that today's Tommy Tenney calls a 'Highly developed sense of injustice about satanic oppression'. Adventures in God is a very compelling and small volume sure to leave the reader wanting more, so if you would like to know more, there are excellent other books on John Lake and his teachings.

Fully Used By God,

This review is from: Adventures in God (Paperback)
John G Lake is one of the churches early 19th century fathers of Faith and Healing. This book is one of the best books I have read when talking about Faith and Healing. Mr Lake was a man of God who was greatly used by God in a mighty way.Throughout this book you will read of documented accounts of Healing touches throughout the world. This small and brief account of his journel was published for our benefit so that we can apply that say God given faith to reach the world with a healing touch. His many recorded accounts of the "Healing Rooms" were greatly documented. I just wish that there was more in this book. I recommend this book to all those who want to increase in their faith and see a mighty work of God done in and through them. John G Lake was just a man like we are, however he applied the biblical teachings to his life and because of that saw God touch so many lives.

Ever-inspiring!,
This review is from: Adventures in God (Paperback)
I have read this book many times over the years -- and no, it really doesn't take all that long, but it still never fails to stir my faith in the Almighty God and my desire to be always, fully His. He is still doing the mighty things we see in the Bible; and, as in the Bible, He is doing it through flawed but believing humans. Get this book! Once you finish it, you'll want to keep it handy so you can read again about one or two incidents for a quick, spiritual "pick-me-up." There are many excellent, moving, inspiring testimonies in print (Wigglesworth's is "right up there" on my list), but this remains my favorite. Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that Lake didn't try to do it all, but taught and discipled many others in order to multiply the work accomplished, carry it on when he was gone, and be certain that God would get all the glory. Gordon Lindsay sat under John Lake and founded Christ For the Nations in Dallas. He also wrote a biography of Lake, and compiled a book of Lake's sermons. That biography is very well written and contains much more detail, but the Harrison House book is a quick but powerful reminder of what God can do with an individual who will dare to believe, obey, and strive to be a Matthew 11:12 Christian.
