5.0 out of 5 stars On A Mission... September 1, 2012

Funeral Crashing? Graveyard girl? I pondered what on earth this book entailed, as it was emphatically hard for me to wrap my mind around such thoughts. Throughout reading the book, I couldn't help but to think author, Milda Harris, has written another great book. Page turner, to say the least, Adventures of a Graveyard Girl does not disappoint. It's chapter after chapter of intriguing, convoluted twists and turns -- all delivered in a style true to the chicklit genre.

Essentially, the book is about a high school girl, Kait Lenox, whose weird-girl reputation precedes her for funeral crashing. But that takes a back seat when she starts dating the most popular guy in her school, Ethan Ripley. Her days of funeral crashing fade as it starts to blossom into the perfect romance.

"Ethan looked down at me and I looked up at him, our eyes meeting. I leaned up to kiss him. I really couldn't have asked for a more romantic Homecoming Dance moment. It was so perfect, but just as our lips were about to touch, we both jumped as the music stopped with a screech, ending in dead silence."

So what can distract a love-struck teenager? A murder. A surprising murder in the high school bathroom and Kait is determined to find out who did it, so she assigns herself to the case, even at Ethan's disapproval. What I particularly loved about the book, was the suspense...

"It would be embarrassing if I was wrong, but I didn't care. I had to keep running. I was almost there. I pushed past a last crowd of people, losing sight of my target for a moment. I finally got around them and ran toward Ariel, except now she wasn't there. A chill fell over me. Where was she? I looked frantically around the spot she had been standing..."

I was super shocked when I found out who did it, but more interestingly, "why" they did it. Adventures of a Graveyard Girl is a lush, exotic, intricately woven journey that has so many diverse elements that any reader would find more than one with which to divert and entertain themselves.

Kudos to the author. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story! May 8, 2012

Being around 150 pages, this was a shorter read for me. I honestly read so many books in a month I have no idea how I keep the plots straight. For example, now I am reading Hunger Games#2, the new Sookie Stackhouse book, 77 Days, and another one about a vampire. I think this is because my mind is so used to doing 15 things at once that it needed something to make up for it and boy did I!

Adventures of a Graveyard Girl is a YA book, which I love. I'd love to see a study done that shows the actual ages of people who read YA books - I bet anything that more adults do than the YA themselves! One of the things I always look at to decide if I like a book is the cover - yes I know, Don't judge a book by it's cover, but I do! It looks like the character is going to be a goth girl because maybe she hangs out in the graveyard. I like making predictions because it gives me a reason to read as well as making me feel good when I was correct!

Kait is literally the girl who you went to school with that was quiet at times, but unbelievably funny. I like to think of myself as never quiet and always funny, so the main character and I did have a little in common. The way the author writes and gives emotion to the characters is like a breach of fresh air, with a tinge of dark humor. I would definitely recommend this book to readers of all ages, especially if you have teenage girls who just received a Ebook Reader! I loved how the book was a mystery, yet included a lot of elements that high school age kids can relate to - puppy love, dances, curiosity, and fitting in. Better yet, this is part of a series and I love them!

3.0 out of 5 stars iliked the first one better March 19, 2013

no real detective work- just a teen asking a few other teens a few questions and worrying about her relationship status, talking a lot about popular kids in a really superficial way and still feeling friendship towards a girl who has gone way out of her way to not deserve it. the insecurity was kinda charming in the first book but not in this one. we already fell in like with her quirkiness in the 1st- this one didn't offer enough new stuff and like i said the detective part was WEAK. I think the writer has a lot of potential, but she should skip sequels if she doesn't have something more to tell.
