The Adventures in Japanese Level 2 Workbook is designed to complement the Adventures in Japanese Level 2 Textbook and Audio CDs. It includes Language Lab exercises based on clear but natural speed audio recordings, as well as speaking, listening, reading and writing activities. Widely adopted at junior and senior high schools across the U.S. because of its effectiveness, Adventures in Japanese is a user-friendly but comprehensive course that incorporates textbooks, student workbooks, kana workbooks and flashcards, teacher’s handbooks and audio CDs for a complete and enjoyable introduction to the Japanese language. The title of the series implies fun, and the books’ lively illustrations and vivid explanations make language learning enjoyable for students. Speaking, listening, reading and writing are equally stressed throughout, and Cultural Notes make important points about Japanese culture and language use. A Fun Corner--with various culturally related activities from making onigiri (riceballs) to learning Japanese songs--increases the sense of exploration and adventure, and a Japanese Culture Corner feature provides cultural topics for students to explore in depth and compare with their own culture.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Reference!, September 16, 2000
By
Mary (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
As a new Japanese student, I found this book to be extremely helpful. Not only are the hiragana and katakana alphabets included and explained, but there is also a lot of cultural information that I found very interesting. This book is very easy to understand and is even good for some basic teach-yourself Japanese, which is what I'm doing. In the first half of the book, all the words are spelled out in Romanji, so it makes it so much easier for beginners to learn how to read and pronounce Japanese words. You will not be dissapointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars The ABSOLUTE best book for beginners, October 12, 2006
As a college student majoring in Japanese Language and Literature and going to continue on to a master's degree, I have come across many books claiming to teach a person the Japanese language. This book series, however, does the best to provide grammatical explanation and basic grammar. If you are trying to learn Japanese on your own, I would recommend this book to start with. Not only will it be useful in terms of making your way through Japan, but it is interesting and does more than teach the language. It also provides culture notes which are important since language is more than grammatical structure and words, its context.

2.0 out of 5 stars Something Is Missing!, February 9, 2007

(REAL NAME)
This workbook has the best format of any workbook I've seen. It drives on practice...practice...practice. This would easily be a 5-Star workbook and maybe the absolute best if the answers to the questions were somewhere in the book. As a workbook for beginners, I believe the answers should exist so a self learner could check his/her work so they don't develop bad habits from the start. 2 Stars might seem harsh, but for the price of this workbook I expected something complete.
