5.0 out of 5 stars A positive outlook in a world of Hateful remarks, December 30, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The New Adventures of Kimba The White Lion - Freedom & Responsibility [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My title is refering to the fact that many people are remarking on how unalike the new Kimba series is to the original classic, and how completely horrible that makes it. I say again people, WE GET IT ALL READY! Yes, it is different, and yes, it was toned down. If you don't like, you don't have to watch it now do you? As I said in a previous review, it's all in the eye of the beholder, to the old fans of the original Kimba, the series may apear an insult, but to the slightly newer generation of Kimba fans, it's great! The New Adventures of Kimba is a wonderful series, with well done animation, and the dub is very well done. I applaud the cast of voices. For those of you who belive the dub is the worst possible dub in the world and that it is the worst anime, I dare you to watch Mew Mew Power after reading the first 7 books. Now there's an anime that was torn apart at the seams. For those of you who grew up with the original Kimba series, unless you have an open mind, may not like this series at all, but I have to say, Im growing up with the new Kimba series now, and I love it! Ihighly reccomend it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Kimba fans should save their money, August 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The New Adventures of Kimba The White Lion - Freedom & Responsibility [VHS] (VHS Tape)
"The New Adventures of Kimba" is what Pioneer Family Entertainment called the 1989 Japanese remake of the beloved Kimba the White Lion series. It was a misbegotten idea to begin with; a morose, lifeless series that ultimately insults everyone who has fond memories of Kimba. Pioneer tried to Americanize the series and soften it down to a "3 and up" rating. They were somewhat successful because they only dealt with the earliest episodes of this series, which sank further into insanity and depression as it went along. But what you end up with on this video is a poorly voice-acted (...) re-write of a couple of bad TV shows. Why bother?
