WINNER: The 2007 New York Book Festival Best Children's Book --newyorkbookfestival.com
The book was entertaining with a multitude of underlying educational topics, which led to additional side discussions with my kids. An important theme in the story is friendship. Togetherness, sharing and helping others are also emphasized, and colors play an important factor with the overall tone. --Lifestyle (Central Florida Magazine)
Married couple Iris Pearson and Mike Merrill have written a book for children that is soothing and educational. The book is written in conversational prose and is appropriate for beginning readers. It is colorfully illustrated by Project Firefly Animation Studios, a group of former Disney animators. --The West Orange Times (Florida)
About the Author
The story comes from the authors' own experiences. When they found a tired, hungry baby squirrel in their yard the day after a hurricane, they raised her with the help of the local Wildlife Center. Eventually they were able to release Lady in their yard and she is still a frequent visitor.
