Book Description

December 9, 2009
"Adventures of a Lightworker: Dead End Date" by Caroline A. Shearer is the first in a new series about a woman's crusade to teach the world about love, one mystery and personal hang-up at a time.

In a Stephanie Plum meets New Age-style, "Dead End Date" introduces readers to Faith, a young woman whose dating disasters and personal angst have separated her from the reason she's on Earth. When she receives the shocking news that she is a lightworker and has one year to fulfill her life purpose, Faith embarks on her mission with zeal, tackling problems big and small - including the death of her blind date. Working with angels and psychic abilities and even the murder victim himself, Faith dives headfirst into a personal journey that will transform all those around her and, eventually, all those around the world.

A fun, fast-paced metaphysical mystery!

Editorial Reviews

Review

"A metaphysical Bridget Jones!" --Jennifer Hicks, "Never a Dull Moment" radio show

"A fun read and solidly recommended!" --Midwest Book Review

From the Author

"More and more people are reaching within for their innate spirituality, and, in that search, are beginning to bring harmony to their inner and outer worlds," says Shearer. "However, as thought patterns and unconscious habits and negative actions crumble, life can feel like a tumultuous journey. The main character of Faith exemplifies this progression. She takes a step forward in one area, only to stumble backwards in another, but through her wit and charm and ability to laugh at herself, we discover how we, also, may be gentle with ourselves and learn to love the ride."

"Adventures of a Lightworker: Dead End Date" is a mystery novel, as will be each book in the Lightworker series. The spiritual theme and Faith's life purpose as a lightworker are larger elements that come into play over the course of the series. Look for much growth in Faith's character - and have fun along with her as she stumbles to her highest and greatest good!

I was really surprised by this book. Extremely well researched and written. It kept me riveted with suspense as each chapter unfolded another clue to the mystery. A fun book, yet a powerful reminder of the intuitive gift we each have and can develop. I highly recommend this book. A great fast Spring/Summer read.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a journey! February 11, 2013
Format:Paperback
It really was. I did more than read this book, I learned something from it. Without repeating other reviewers, what can I say? It was loosely a murder mystery but that was just the story-line. Inside the story was a lot more depth than can really be explained in a review. I found myself chuckling at times and at other times I caught myself thinking of ways I could be like the character that I was reading about.

Its spirituality with real life and it has the ability to spark epiphanies about yourself. That's power.

I highly recommend this for anyone who not only likes this genre, but who might be searching for themselves as well.

I had never heard of a Lightworker before so I wasn't sure what to expect from the book. But I loved it! It usually takes me forever to finish a book, but this one I didn't want to put down. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding first book from an upcoming novelist! December 20, 2010
By Erin G.
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book explores spirituality from a fresh, clever and upbeat point of view. The subject matter--a solid and intriguing murder mystery encountered by a modern-day heroine--are the perfect platforms for this new novelist. Every page is charming and seems to bring you closer to the author, as you can't quite help but hear her voice in Faith! Faith is the character we all want to be: smart, funny, and about to save the world, if she can just master her own path. It is one of those books that, when you finish, you're a better person than when you began for having lived through its pages. Overall, a great read. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun read and solidly recommended November 7, 2010
Format:Paperback
When one's charge is to spread love, it can be very unlovely to fulfill one's duties. "Dead End Date: Adventures of a Lightworker" tells the story of Faith, who finds out partway through her life that her charge is to be a lightworker, one who is to spread love through Earth. Seeing her fail at her job, she has one year to improve or be pulled from her assignment. But with her regular life being in the way, spreading love can be quite tiring. "Dead End Date" is a fun read and solidly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adventurous and heartwarming! A soulful joyride. August 24, 2010
Format:Paperback
"Dead End Date" was a lighthearted AND intriguing murder mystery-- quite an achievement. I loved the setting descriptions because the story takes place in one of my favorite cities-- beautiful Austin, Texas. The charming main character, Faith, presents as the classic flawed hero with a new age twist-- she's clever, kind, confident, charismatic and comical, while profoundly spiritual and ever so often, rather risque! Her road toward unraveling a murder mystery doubles as a spiritual path toward enlightenment and self-actuation. Absolutely heartwarming, adventurous and fun. I couldn't put it down!! Can't wait for her next book to come out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to put down August 5, 2010
Format:Paperback
Well written page turner with imaginative plot, humor, and a joy to read. I can't wait for the next "Lightworker" novel. If it measures up to this one, I'll be putting Ms. Shearer on my favorite author list right next to Janet Evanovich.
