5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful way to teach the food chain of the ocean to kids
I purchased this book for my childrens library at school and the kids there fell in love with it. Even younger children are so intrigued by the googly eyes in the book that they don't even realize they are learning while being read to or reading on thier own. I plan on purchasing some of the other books which are similar. Great job.

2.0 out of 5 stars Story unsuitable
The rolling eyes are cute but the story is expressed in such a complicated way that nobody understands what the heck is going on. Bravo for the drawing and the eyes but boooooooo for the text !

My parents bought this book for my two year old. Not only is it attention-getting with big bug eyes on every page, but the story is delightfully clever, interesting & educational. The back of the book even has a two page "encyclopedia" with pictures and descriptions of all the sea creatures introduced in the book. This is the first children's book that has kept my attention and interest as long as my son's. I highly recommend this book.

I bought this book for my 15 month old granddaughter while we were on vacation in Arizona. She is 20 months old now and can recognize all the characters. The story is adorable and the illustrations are sublime. She loves the colors and the expressions on the creatures faces.....especially Sharky. I have to read it every night to her and she is always as attentive as the first time. The bulging, wiggly eyes make the book a wonderful picture book for a baby and the prose is delightful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rhymes and Eye-Popping Visuals Excite Youngest Book Lovers, December 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Adventures of Max the Minnow (Eyeball Animation) (Wiggle Eyes) (Hardcover)
My son received this book as a gift when he was five months old and has listened and giggled to it every night for four months since. The rhyme scheme and exciting illustrations entertain him even during his most fussy times. At first, he focused mostly on the wiggling, googly eyes on every page, but now he studies all the other bright pictures and laughs at the funny faces on the characters. I have the book memorized but never tire of reading it because he enjoys it so much. The only downside...the book is not designed for toddlers to grab...we're on our second copy and now hold it well out of his reach. Also, it might be a little scary for kids who are easily frightened...Max barely avoids becoming a toothy shark's dinner.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book with a great lesson, November 12, 2000
This review is from: Adventures of Max the Minnow (Eyeball Animation) (Wiggle Eyes) (Hardcover)
I have four kids ranging in age from 8 1/2 years old to 2 1/2 years old. All of them LOVE this book. The huge eyes are what captivated all of us in the beginning but the story and illustrations were fun with an easy moral included. I can't wait to find more titles in the Boniface series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kids Love It!, January 9, 2007
I bought this book for my 2 grandsons, age 3 and 1, and they both love it. The book is a very well made board book for the little one and the moving "eyes" fascinate them both. I first saw the book in a doctor's office and laughed, I thought it was so funny. I wrote down the publisher and ordered it on-line with another companion book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great fun and illustrations to die for, August 11, 2004

To start off, though, I have to say that you just can't read these books lying down in bed with your child. The eyes roll up (they're weighted) and all you get is the "whites" of the eyes.
Having said that, if you sit up with your kid and read, this is a great series of books to get into. I like to barely wiggle the book while reading so the eyes move about in silly ways.
The rhymes are great and engaging. The storyline is always cute. In this book in particular the storyline has a redeeming moral value to it.
Brightly illustrated, the drawings do a great job of illustrating the action in the story AND finding a way to deal with the backsides of the holes the eyes go through.
Cute, Clever, Witty, and Worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars the adentures of Max the Minnow, October 2, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Adventures of Max the Minnow (Eyeball Animation) (Wiggle Eyes) (Hardcover)
The book was a good book it was about this minnow named Max. He was smaller then all the other fish and wanted to know how to get big. he asked everyone and he had one more person to ask. He went to the Shark's Place. ...
The age level is about 4-6.
The lesson i think is that even if your smaller then everything you can still be just as good as everyone else.
I really liked the lesson in this book and the wording...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story, Great Rhymes, December 29, 2011

When our friend gave us this book I was not thrilled. With the wiggle eyes poking out of the cover I thought it was going to be nothing special, relying wholly on the gimmick of the eyes to carry it through. Boy was I wrong! Not only are the illustrations fantastic throughout, but the rhyming thoughtful words bring this book home. I love the message that shines through to be true to yourself, you can accomplish great things no matter what size you are.

We have read this book so many times that the words are engraved in my heart. I have memorized every line and love to read it to the kids. This is a wonderful addition to any child's library and a book your family will treasure.

E's Thoughts (9yrs old):
I liked this book because its about sea creatures. It's funny when Max eats pizza. I really like that the book rhymes. It's really well written and fun to read. The illustrations are very colorful and cartoonish. I would recommend this book to all kids, boys and girls. Everyone in our family loves to read it and I think your family would too!

H's Thoughts (7 yrs old):
I like that Max is trying to be big, but instead he gets fat. The googly eyes are cool too. I think Max is weird and cool. I love the pictures and watching Max grow.

M's Thoughts (5 yrs old):
I really like that there is a snail on every page. I like to search for them. I love Max's seahorse Sam. The pictures are all really cool. Of course, I like the eyeballs too!

W's Thoughts (3 yrs old):
I like about the oogly eyes.
