The most intense volume of AIO!!!,

This review is from: Adventures in Odyssey: Darkness Before Dawn (#25) (Audio CD)
An old nemesis, a diabolical plot and a battle between the forces of good and evil - in Odyssey?! An unprecedented wave of criminal activity has broken over the town, and its citizens are stunned. Thefts, broken windows, graffiti...who on earth is behind this outbreak of Lawlessness? It's up to the crew at Whit's End to find out. Bust as Jack, Jason, Eugene and the others set out to uncover the answer, they face a tremendous test of faith, friendship and forgiveness. Will they get through this dark time to see the light of dawn? Be sure to listen to each episode in order to find out. Episodes: NOTE: The following 11-part series (starting with #2) deals with Satan's attacks on Odyssey. Those attacks manifest themselves in ways ranging from stolen bicycles to vandalism to a bomb exploding at Whit's End. While these things are handled carefully and are integral to the plot, the series still gets extremely intense in places, and is therefore not recommended nor intended for younger listeners. A Little Credit, Please (episode #323 / Theme: Stewardship / Scripture Reference: Luke 16:10-12). Connie gets her first credit card. Small Fires, Little Pools (episode #324). Trouble starts happening in Odyssey. Sam and Lucy's bikes are stolen. Angels Unaware (episode #325). Someone is assisting Sam and Lucy retrieve their bikes back but who? Gathering Thunder (episode #326). Lucy and Connie have been nabbed by "The Israelites". Moving Targets (episode #327). Jack resigns from Whit's End, Jason takes over. Tom Riley is accused of something bad and a campaign to recall him as mayor. Hard Losses (episode #328). The campaign against Tom continues and the return of Richard Maxwell. The Return (episode #329). The City council closes down Whit's End. The Time Has Come (episode #330 / Theme: Salvation). Eugene becomes a Christian and accepts Jesus Christ. Checkmate * (episode #331). Lucy is taken by the Bones of Wrath. Another Chance * (episode #332). Richard Maxwell is in a coma. The Last Resort * (episode #333). The contents of what is under Whit's End is revealed. Tom finally realizes what Richard has done for him. The Final Conflict * (episode #334). An explosion happens and Jack and Blackgaard is involved. One makes it alive and one does not. * Parental preview is encouraged. REVIEW: The following episodes were the most intense "to be continued" Adventure in Odyssey episodes I have ever listened to. Every day, I couldn't wait for the next episode because it was that good. It was interesting to see the city of Odyssey have so much criminal activity and see the characters be placed in tough situations. This audio set comes highly recommended.

Terrific - and it has depth,

Those who have experienced the conclusion of the "Novacom Saga" recently have heard Adventures in Odyssey at it's best, but if absolute pure suspence is what you want, then I recommend this series. It has been building for a long time, every so often Dr. Regis Blackgaard would appear on the horizon, dark and sinister, first in Odyssey with his own "amusement house" for kids (and a nefarious effort to steal a top secret computer program from Mr. Whittaker-thwarted by Richard Maxwell who makes another appearance in this album)and then in Chicago where he actually kidnapped Connie, and finally in "A Name Not a Number" when he returned to Odyssey. This album presents the climax of his plans, and there are enough twists and turns to leave you breathless for weeks...and the amount of depth is breathtaking, with the story functioning on several levels, from Eugene's own personal struggles, to the Tom Riley-Richard Maxwell problem, to the conflict of Jason and Jack over "The Isrealits".not to mention the recall! The web gets ever wider. So buy this album and immerse yourself in a story that is both very complicated, and at the same time, equally compelling. You won't be dissapointed!

Episodes on this miniseries include A little credit please, Small fires little pools, Angels unaware, gathering thunder, moving targets, hard losses, the return, the time has come, checkmate, another chance, the last resort and the final conflict. This is a very exciting series with each episode ending on a cliff hanger. It was very hard to stop listening to do other things. An excellent buy for children and adults alike.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Adventures in Odyssey: Darkness Before Dawn (#25) (Audio CD)
this is the best A.I.O set ever. this set is very deep and makes for good discussion in summary: there is an out break of vandalism in odyssey. everyone thinks the bones of wrath are behind it. the church is hit. whits end is hit. jack has more weird dreames. jason gets an inspector to investigate the under- ground railroad tunnel under whits end. What he gets is the wicked Philip Glossman. Glossman has a scandal to have a recal election to kick tom out of office. we learn that Dr. Blackgaard is behind it. in " the return" dr. Blackgaard returns to odyssey to announce his candidacy for the election. Richard maxwell returns to odyssey to stop Blackgaard. maxwell finds out about the Dr's true plan: BLOW UP WHITS END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!everyone is drawn into the final conflict. jason and the police close in on blackgaard. Eugene uses his newfound faith in Jesus. Bernard and the isrialites catch Jellyfish, and Glossman. Jack meets Blackgaard in the tunnel. In a touching and amazing end Jack tries to stop Blackgaard, and redeem Blackgaards soul. Blackgaard makes the assumption that he couldnt turn from his wicked ways and exept Christ.Blackgaard blows up the tunnel and dies, Jack (by his faith in God) is saved from the blast. it is a happy ending for everyone. this set is amazing. if you are new to the series listen to this it has action, adventure, and amazing tales of faith>

"Adventures in Odyssey" is a compelling and absolutely delightful audio drama. The stories stimulate imagination while illustrating biblical principles. "Darkness Before Dawn" is the most intense AIO drama to date.A rash of petty crimes, vandalism and other instances, are causing unrest in the town of Odyssey. Jack Alan, proprietor of Whits' End, an ice cream shop and place of discovery, is troubled nightly by disturbing dreams. Who could be behind this complex web of evil? The vandalism crimes gradually escalate, and a mysterious band of warriors emerge: individuals who are determined to fight the evil that has invaded their town. Some of the best episodes on this album are as follows: 1. "A Little Credit, Please". Although not related to the other eleven consecutive episodes, this story talks of stewardship and the gifts that God has entrusted to us. 2. "Small Fires and Little Pools". Jack Alan dreams about evil invading Odyssey. He is determined to rely upon God's strength to combat this sinister invasion. 3. "Angel's Unawares". Helpers are always available to thwart Satan's plans. 4. "The Time Has Come". An unforgettable episode in which EuGene Meltzner, intellectual genius and worker at Whits' End, grapples with questions regarding his own life and the attack upon Odyssey. He must make a decision that will change his life forever. 5. "The Final Conflict". The ultimate show-down between the mastermind behind the evil plot and Odyssey's citizens. This episode is climactic and will leave you breathless! Please give this excellent album a chance. God bless. |
