This sweet story was enjoyed by my first grade class today. The illustrator, a recent graduate from Kendall School of art and design, read it to them this morning. The students were able to make many connections with the adorable monkey characters who go to the city to visit the library, museum, and toy store. In each place the youngest gets misplaced, but they all make it back home safely with help from their friend Peanuts, the elephant.

As an avid reader, author, editor, and enthusiast, I can say with complete sincerity that this book is a breakthrough in the Children's Books world. While the authorship is par qua authorship, it is absolutely astounding considering this is the first attempt, work, and publication by the author. However, what grants this book the position of being a true breakthrough is the illustrations. The illustrator, Leigha Kenny, is possibly the most talented of all recent Children's Books illustrators. Her use of subtle detail (the kind of detail that children can't put into words until they've grown and can reflect and elaborate on what made this or that Children's Book so special as a child), enchanting but vivid characters, gift for illustrating exactly what best represents each particular passage, and unmatched abilities in the way of using negative space, maintaining theme, flow, and the author's voice are cut and dry challenges facing upcoming, contemporary, and even classic Children's Books illustrators. This illustrator and author make a formidable team. All things being equal, your child--any child--will (and does, from my experience) love this book!
