I was looking for a comprehensive treatment of the Robin Hood legend that was both highly literate and child-friendly (and for me "child-friendly" normally involves beautiful illustrations). This is it! The story is engagingly-written without being at all "dumbed down", and the illustrations are simply gorgeous. The narrative is also, for the most part, broken up into portions that lend themselves to bedtime reading. Am so happy with this "find"!

We got this book from the library for my Robin Hood obsessed 5 year old girl, so we knew exactly what we were getting. She loved the book, but it's not for everyone. The wording is a bit hard for a young child and I would only recommend this book for older children that are very interested in Robin Hood. We also got the Adventures of Robin Hood by Marcia Williams, and that is fabulous for 5-8 year olds.

I just love this book for the great art work in it. I needed it to give to my grandsons and hopefully they will appreciate the beautiful illustrations by Hildebrandt. They are so nice I wish I could find them just to frame! thank you.
