Talk about helpful!,
This review is from: Adventures in Voice Acting (DVD)
Whether you want to get into voice acting or are just curious about the faces behind the voices, Adventures in Voice Acting is a fantastic behind-the-scenes look into the voice-acting industry. The documentary is very fun to watch since it is split into five very informative sections. The questions were well thought out and very helpful. Watching my favorite actors' personalities in real life (hehe) was also a blast. I highly recommend this DVD for anyone who may be curious about voice acting for any platform. Waiting until next year for the game DVD is going to be difficult!

Bang! Zoom! Straight to the recording room!,

BangZoom! Entertainment has, for years, provided the anime community with great shows, awesome promotions, and even a fun and informative documentary. AiVA is their second released documentary, the first being the Starz! Exclusive "Anime: Drawing the Revolution". They are not just the benefactors for the fans, but fans themselves.
As far as the DVD goes, I originally bought a copy of it at the BangZoom! booth on release day at Anime Expo, but I ended up also getting a complimentary copy for making it to the finals of the voice acting competition. I ended up giving the copy I bought to my friend for her birthday, and she is now actually working professionally in the industry. Throughout the DVD, I got to listen to many of my favorite recording artists, like Tara Strong, Steve Blum, and even my friends Cristina Vee and Xanthe Hyunh got a chance to address the rise in interest for the biz. You can easily tell that the people interviewed are professionals who both know what they are doing, and have fun doing it at the same time. You not only get to recieve first hand advice from them, but hear about their relatable stories about how they grew up, bringing a great 3-dimensional aspect to it, and deferring away from what some people may call a "video textbook". The only thing that I thought might have brought the DVD up (hence the lack of 1 star), is more example clips of anime and the voice over artists at work. There were a number of them in there, mind you, but they were few and far between, thrown in almost arbitrarily. It would have brought the energy up to the DVD, and would have made it (in my opinion) worthy of the full 5 stars. It's definitely a DVD worth picking up, especially if you're interested in voice over work as either a fan or even an aspiring actor such as myself. It's very informative, fun, lighthearted, and all around a good watch.

An absolute "must-see" for anyone curious about voice acting as a career,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Adventures in Voice Acting (DVD)
Adventures in Voice Acting Volume One is an exciting behind-the-scenes DVD tour of the voice acting industry, a vital part of both games and animated television shows. Featuring professional voice actors such as Tom Kenny (Spongebob Squarepants), Michelle Rodriguez (Halo 2), Lance Henricksen (Mass Effect), Wendee Lee, Steve Blum, and more, Adventures in Voice Acting Volume One teaches aspiring voice actors how to break into the industry. Among the tips and discussed include techniques to use while in the booth, how to prepare for an audition, what to expect on one's first day in the studio, and more. An absolute "must-see" for anyone curious about voice acting as a career. 130 minutes plus 32 minutes of extras, color.
