Truly a great piano software program for beginners,
This review is from: Children's Music Journey (CD-ROM)
Our 6 year old wanted the Fisher Price keyboard that interacts with a television for Christmas. We were unimpressed by its "teaching" and price tag. After some research, we purchased a MIDI keyboard and this software. He loved it! The lessons were fun and instructive. The games were not distractions from the lessons, they enhanced them. In a month, he learned key names, identified high and low notes by sound, learned four count beat, finger placement, and some song playing.
We will confidently sign him up for piano lessons. If he never learns another note, we still got our money's worth. Highly recommend!!

My 6 year old son is reading music in less than one year,
This review is from: Children's Music Journey (CD-ROM)
I happened to look at this amazon page to see if anyone said which software they used after their student finished the Children's Music Journey CD-Roms and I saw the poor review. We haven't had the first problem! Several moms in our homeschool group use it as well and think it's fantastic. I will say that for some reason the software stops working if the child waits a long time - like several minutes - to use it. In this case, we simply exited and re-started the software and had no problem. My son quickly learned not to get distracted or the software would "time out" (the software wouldn't acknowledge the keyboard being played).
Whoever wrote this software really loves kids and understands them. It gently increases their skill level by isolating skills (very Montessori). The games work on one skill while the lessons work on another. They eventually incorporate what has been practiced in the games. Brilliant! It give lots of encouragement during each session. It even teaches music history and music appreciation as well. (My Son loves his "teachers", namely Mr. Tchaikovsky, Mr. Bach, etc.) He is almost finished with Music Journey 2 and can't wait to start 3. My only problem? What could I possibly follow it with that would be half as good as this program?

Adventus Warning !!!!!!, Buyer Beware !!!!,
This review is from: Children's Music Journey (CD-ROM)
I agree totally with the one review about very poor customer service, first they are very arrogant and assumed that everyone is a buffoon, next, the software is not as educational as they state, my daughter was easily bored and the keyboard was behind on almost all notes when she pressed the key. Next, their satisfaction guarantee is bogus because I tried to return the item, followed the instructions for return and when they recieved it at the return facilty , they tried to deduct a percentage off my return stating I had used packing tape that marred the keyboard box and what i would receive a portion of what they had to repackage the keyboard since the box is part of their product and was damaged. No wwhere on their site or in their return instruction did they say how to tape it or what color tape to use. As a added note they still after two weeks have not refunded my money. Their manager whom i called was very arrogant and really had no concern for me as a customer. I will never recommend this company or their product to anyone I know. Buyer Beware
