Buy the CD and keep these guys playing their music!

As much as I love Cody's voice, the variety of having other lead singers on some of the songs is a real plus.

From the 12-pack sucker punch opening drum/bass/guitar intro to the waning wails of Sweet Lord, this album grabbed me on first listen. And upwards of two dozen listens since then, it refuses to let go.

Canada, James, Plato, Littleton, and Doege have forged an absolute masterpiece of blues/R&B/rock-tinged Americana, and have left the past in the dust.

Canada's considerable musical and vocal chops were likely the most known commodity amongst this group, but the real surprise here is Seth James, whose soulful numbers leave the listener gasping for air. James's axemanship is certainly considerable (along with Canada's, to be sure), as is Plato's prowess on the bass. And Plato gets his own time to shine on lead vocals as well. Chris Doege is a fine rock drummer, one content to carry the backbeat with tasteful, precision bombast; but it's Steve Littleton's keyboard work which carries this album over the threshold of mere "good" music, into the echelon of greatness.

Standout tracks on the album are Worth The Fight, Burden, Flagpole, Demons, Set It Free, Better Get It Right, Hobo and the instrumental Mark It Wrong. That said, Prayer For The Lonely and Blackhorse Mary are destined for greatness -- they are can't-miss tracks on an album filled with can't-miss tracks.

While Ragweed remains a favorite, The Departed represents the evolution of some of these individuals into something whose whole is far greater than the sum of its parts.

Brilliance.

Can't listen to this album loud enough. Awesome vocals by Seth and Cody. Not a bad song on the album. Harkens back to old ragweed days, except with more soul and blues.

If you get a chance to see Departed in concert, don't pass on the opportunity. You will not be dissapointed.

This album is (for lack of a more enthusiastic word) AMAZING. There isn't even one song that I've skipped over. It's been in my car for a few weeks now on a constant loop. I have enjoyed it so much that only having it in the car wasn't enough, so I downloaded the mp3 version so I could listen to it in the house on my ROKU through the Amazon Cloud. Every song is rich and soulful with just enough grittiness to give it the amazing country/rock edge of their previous bands. Will be purchasing more copies as gifts this summer!!

I own every cross Canadian album and now both of the departed albums. This album is new, different and an absolute pleasure to own. These guys have matured musically way beyond their peers in the alternative country/rock genre. You will like it at first listen and then love it my the fifth listen. It may be a little different than what you are expecting. It is not a country album, it is most definitely a rock album and a vast departure from early ccr albums. The Texas country/ red dirt music is not what it used to be and many bands are stuck in that rut but this album is where music should be headed. It's professional, well written and just plain awesome. It is NOT mainstream at all and if your like me that's a good thing. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Really good album, but not really "Country" per se. Great blend of Rock and Americana with the awesome song writing of Cody and Seth. Also, Seth James can SING!
