Book Description

Are you a love-stricken dog with a girlfriend who does not appreciate your zest for life and desire to chase fire trucks? Perhaps you are not a dog. Let's even assume you have no desire to chase various fire engines, no matter how hard it is to imagine - they are red, after all. The question remains - if you are in love but your significant other does not appreciate you for who you are, what are you to do? First things first, obviously:

★KEEP YOUR PANTS ON. IF YOU DON'T WEAR PANTS, DISREGARD.★

After that, get a solid advice from someone who knows all there's to know about love. This story is a powerful testament of eternal love that can overcome all obstacles. Nah, just kidding.

This is a story about an energetic, enthusiastic, and slightly eccentric funny dog named Baron.

In this book you will also find a collection of other humorous stories that have enough funny jokes to fill two full-sized humor novels, if anyone still writes those anymore. The stories are driven by the dialog and interaction between the characters, in the best comic traditions of Steve Martin, Will Ferrell, Robin Williams, Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Izzard, and even vaudeville stylings of Red Skelton.

✔ As a rule, trolls are a peace-loving people who do not wish to go to war. How to convince those peacenik hippies to take up arms and join your righteous struggle.
✔ Space pirate-infested asteroids are not a problem for our heroic Space Rabbit. He is a natural-born problem solver of the impatient variety.
✔ Baron gets his own radio show. This is downright irresponsible, if you ask me.
✔ A possible romantic situation hilariously turns into a pursuit of a grand conspiracy. Well, when in Paris...
✔ Making a deal with the Devil. The pros, cons, and amusing consequences.
...and more!

➨ Oleg Medvedkov is funny, no, Oleg Medvedkov spins tales of uncovering the wildest forms of human behavior - that sound strangely plausible. And that is one reason he is so hilarious - his insanities skip past us every day. Oleg just notices them for what they are. -Grady Harp, Top 50 Reviewer, Hall of Fame Reviewer
➨ Humorous stories that are delivered in a fast-paced madcap style that never slowed down. -J. Chambers, Top 50 Reviewer
➨ The pages flew by. -Dennis Littrell, Top 500 Reviewer, Hall of Fame Reviewer

P.S. Just a fair warning before you buy this book - "Literary fiction" it is not. These stories are designed to be upbeat and funny. And some even have dogs in them. In other words - it's entertainment.

Review

Reviews for "Lunch Break Funnies" series:

★ With wit and warmth Medvedkov has a laugh with the objects of his humour instead of ridiculing them heartlessly. At times it shows, however, that there are observations and truth behind the fun. Light hearted and pleasant, it is a very nice way to spend an afternoon. -Christoph Fischer, Top 1000 reviewer
★ I have to say the author has a twisted and creative sense of humor. -RJ Parker, Top 500 Reviewer
★ ... bizarre and funny stories that have an Alice in Wonderland quality, if Alice's author was happily drunk, had two tongues, one in his left cheek and the other in the right. -Israel Drazin, Top 1000 Reviewer
★ Oleg Medvedkov's offbeat humor and zany prose bring strange worlds to life, toy with them over lunch break, then let them go. So take a laugh break, or lunch break, and enjoy some five-minute smiles. -S. Deeth, Top 1000 Reviewer
★ The way Oleg Medvedkov uses language is simply like a breath of fresh air. -Dennis Waller, Top 500 Reviewer

From down-to-earth trolls to ADD dogs, Oleg Medvedkov's offbeat humor and zany prose bring strange worlds to life, toy with them over lunch break, then let them go. Short stories introduce the fearsome intergalactic rabbit and an obsequious storeowner in France with equal aplomb, and random confusion. Meanwhile talking dogs eat cake on air and struggle to handle the telephone with their paws. Entirely logical, of course, or illogical, or something...

My favorite story has a thoroughly random, and logical, sting in its tail. But the hungry crocodile's sting might lie in its jaws, or on the pages of a Gratitude Journal; you'll have to read to find out why. So take a commercial break, or laugh break, or lunch break, and enjoy some five-minute smiles. Part of the author's Take a Break and Have a Laugh Series, these nicely-edited and quickly-read pieces flash past faster than a sandwich, go down well with coffee or cold caffeine, and leave the reader mildly amused, bemused and confused, all in one.

Disclosure: The author let me know this book was free and asked if I'd like to read and review it, so I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Came on a Dragon with a Coin" March 31, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"Love Advise for Pitbulls and Other Funny Stories" is a refreshingly unique style of humor that is flowing with uncanny wit in a cerebral fashion that would make Dennis Miller and William F Buckley proud. I am still smiling from reading this collection of shorts.

I enjoyed the humor but the play on words are my favorite. A very original style of thoughts that will have you wishing you thought of them first. An example, in the story, "Grand Conspiracy" there is a beautiful woman from Oklahoma in a Paris shop when the clerk said that there was no reason to ever visit Oklahoma has the only reason to go there was standing in his store, I can't wait to use that as a "pick-up" line, just priceless and original.

Another great play on words is in the first story, "Coin Toss" is when the Trolls give our hero the name "Annoying Human Who Came on a Dragon with a Coin." You'll need to read the story to get it, but in the words of Christopher Walken, "Great Stuff!"

After reading this collection of stories, I would love to see the Author write a comedic novel. I believe that his style would be welcomed as he as a talent for creating strong visuals and character development. The way he weaves words, he's a true "wordsmith" I for one am impressed.

If you are wanting to read quality material that will give you a laugh and unknowingly work your mind that is layered with hidden meanings using great language, then this is the book for you. The way Oleg Medvedkov uses language is simply like a breath of fresh air. This book is definitely written by an intellectual that just about anyone can enjoy but for the Dennis Miller's out there, this is a nice little treat!

This is a short and fabulously funny read. The chapters are stream of consciousness vignettes with the jewel being the second chapter in which a dog calls a helpline. I could not stop laughing. Each story had laugh out loud moments. My only complaint is that I would have loved to see the first chapter go on because the premise was SO INTERESTING. Pick this book up. You won't be sorry.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny surreal type tales April 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book contains over half a dozen bizarre but funny short stories that have an Alice in Wonderland quality, if Alice's author was happily drunk, had two tongues, one in his left cheek and the other in the right. There is a tale, for example, of a dog seeking advice because he can't stop running after fire trucks and other speeding vehicles and people, and his girl friend wants him to stop. Another story is about a radio host who is supposed to answer caller's questions, but he asks questions instead. Still another tells about a man who dreamed he was a priest who gave a sermon on the letter D.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Pitbull Agony Aunt - what next? June 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Take a trip into Oleg Medvedkov's whacky world where he irreverently turns our preconceptions on their head and invites the reader to take a ride that is a cross between the highest Magic Mountain roller coaster ride (which I am terrified of) and living in another dimension where the devil takes up temporary residence in his fridge and devours his lean turkey sandwiches and olives, whilst offering him magical powers; and Baron the dog talk back host - `Absolutely! I am the host of a radio show, you can trust me!' This collection of short stories rattle along with wonderful insanity in the Land of Confusion.
It's contagious, delightfully insane and funny. Make no mistake, the man's a genius, a master of this genre and will keep you entertained from start to finish of each book. I'll be looking for more.

2.0 out of 5 stars Weird Humor ? September 23, 2013
By MAP

I'm sorry, I guess this book just isn't my type of humor. Most of the time I felt like I didn't know where it was going - maybe that was the writer's goal. Some parts did make me smile, so maybe the author achieved his goal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wacky humor that provokes thought September 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
From references to our modern life to fairytales that recreate a prehistoric world, these vignettes written by Oleg Medvedkov are more than simply ha-ha funny. They are thought provoking. The motto, "Keep your pants on. If you don't have pants, disregard" seems like an instruction written for a software program. It brings a smile to my lips exactly because it is expressed in such a matter-of-fact, dry manner.

My favorite is the first vignette, Coin Toss. "I let my words hang menacingly in the air. The dragon under me shifted restlessly." It is a fairytale set in a prehistoric forrest. The hero, sitting astride a dragon and planning to carve a kingdom for himself, negotiates with trolls who are surprisingly clever, to the point of annoying him as they refuse to give in to his reasoning. The story explores the nonsensical aspect of faith, and the path to leadership in this seemingly primitive society, which stands, perhaps, for our own culture.

I imagine the author sitting astride a dragon and planning to carve a kingdom for himself, a kingdom all his own where he gets to test our perceptions, turn them inside out, and get away with it somehow, because his writing is done with hilarious, wacky humor.

Five stars.

More About the Author

Oleg Medvedkov is a professional copywriter and a writer of funny stories. His hobbies are reading, fixing things, and exercising. Most people don't believe that a tall man with a good posture and a broken nose can be a writer, so he is often rather vague answering the "What do you do" questions.

Education: Master degree in engineering: pointless; Business School: boring.

Major Obstacle to overcome on the road of becoming NYT Bestselling Author: need to learn to type faster.

Personal self-improvement project: trying to grow a goatee.
