About the Author

David H. Freidenberg received his M.D. from the University of California Davis and had four years of residency training at the University of Washington Medical Center. He did premedical work at the University of California Berkeley and University of California San Francisco. Dr. Freidenberg obtained a B.A. from California State University East Bay in English Literature with a minor in creative writing. Dr. Freidenberg has been an emergency physician for over 25 years. Deanna Chew-Freidenberg received both her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California Berkeley in the Graduate School of Education. As an undergraduate, she double-majored at California State University East Bay, obtaining a B.A. in Psychology and B.S. in Statistics. Dr. Chew-Freidenberg is a medical research statistician and consultant, and until recently, a full-time Mom. Dr. Dave and Dr. Dee met in kindergarten, were high school sweethearts and celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary last year. Their three children attend colleges on the East and West coasts.
