2.0 out of 5 stars Needs editing!, July 18, 2006
This review is from: Advising, Managing, and Operating a Successful Student and Non Commercial Radio Station (Mass Market Paperback)
I am a new radio station advisor and I bought this book to help with my transition. While Dr. McCluskey does offer some helpful information, the book is in sore need of an editor. I am only on chapter three and have already found several typographical errors. Material is repeated, the fonts keep shifting and sometimes the point Dr. McCluskey is trying to make is unclear. The poor quality of the book's presentation makes me question its credibility. I would suggest looking elsewhere for material regarding advising, managing and operating a student radio station.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful and Informative, August 9, 2003

This review is from: Advising, Managing, and Operating a Successful Student and Non Commercial Radio Station (Mass Market Paperback)
My colleague Dr. James McCluskey gives an insider's account of how to advise, operate, and manage a student radio station. He writes from first hand experience and shares from his personal accounts what can realistically be expected. He has sucessfully operated stations in various parts of the U.S. Dr. McCluskey has the academic credentials to go along with the experience he describes. Having obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his PhD from Kansas State University, he is a "hands on" academic. He has been on both sides of the podium, i.e., in the field and in the lecture room. In terms of staying active, he regularly presents research at professional conferences throughout the country. As a result he stays current in the field as it continually changes.
