I have been trying to decide what this band's name was a reference to for months. Is it a reference to some obscure chemist's expirament, or is it a reference to a certain caliber of firearm ammunition? After hearing the music, I'm going to have to go with the latter.

For Aeons Past has so much to offer beyond the typical realm of melodic and progressive death metal it leaves it's listeners salivating. You know this is almost the perfect album because it doesn't conclude a moment to soon or a moment too late.

Christian Alvestam's voice is as good as it ever was, so I'm not going to go into the particulars here. Just think Scar Symmetry, but just a little bit smoother at the edges. Good grief, I promised myself I wasn't going to reference *that other band*, but there I go.

As far as the actual music goes, you have to have a pretty good pallete to have a taste for all the styles you will hear. There are definitely some doomy moments, and even a few hints of black metal grandeur. Heck, you are even treated to a rare dose of traditional heavy metal at one point.

The lyrics are worth mentioning here because they stand out. You can barely tell, but someone who isn't even a member of Solution .45 wrote the Lyrics. That someone is the melodic death metal giant, Dark Tranquillity's own Mikael Stanne.

Otherwise, what else is there to say? This is as good a debut album as any that has ever been released by any band. Solution .45 has it all and even some left over For Aeons Past. That gives this album 4.45/5 stars. I would have rated it higher, but I had to use .45 in there somewhere

Christian Älvestam is a jacked up vocalist, and i mean that in a good way. I feel Solution .45 really brings out his power, some of the cleanest clean vocals i have ever heard, and some of the most harshest death metal vocals as well.
Excellent riffs, breakdowns, solos, all the musicians are all very well talented here.
A lot of people are saddened that he left Scar Symmetry and that S.45 is just a 'clone' but the way i see it (and hear it on this cd) its scar symmetry that was really holding him back.
I hear this cd on a daily basis, and i cant seem to get tired of it, and for the folks that crave something more metal, well theres Miseration, THIS GUY CAN DO IT ALL.
I give this cd 4 out of 4 JALAPENOS.

This is easily the best metal album of the year. Christian Älvestam is such an amazingly versatile vocalist (so much so that Scar Symmetry needed to hire 2 singers to do his job when he left)! Just solid metal talent from everyone involved!

I love the previous singer of Scar Symmetry (currently the lead singer of this band) and when I heard about this, I first clicked on a samplI soundbite of one of the songs. The first thing that popped up was a screamo section of the song and I sighed and said "Well this is no..." and suddenly it went into his melodic singing and I melted. it's really awesome - a lot of his smooth mellow singing in perfect guitar heaven. Better than Scar Symmetry even, IMO. \m/

These guys are pretty good. If you are a fan of Scar Symmetry then this is the album for you. Same style but a little heavier. In my personal opinion Solution .45 is better than Scar Symmetry.

These guys are like the underground soilwork of mainstream scandimetal. That's the best I can define their sound. Their album is consistently good. And what I like best is that the sticker on case says 'For Fans of Soilwork and Mercenary'. First time I've ever seen a sticker on an album advertise the album accuratly. But seriously, this is for fans of hard, melodic, complex metal with switching between clean and rough (dog barking like) vocals. Try it, you'll like it.

Great...Great...Album instantly became a favorite of mine, if your a fan of Progressive/Melodic Death Metal this is for you.

All I can say is I don't care what genre you're into, if you can't appreciate the level of musicianship on this album, then you are blind, deaf, and dumb! And for us fans of Scar Symmetry who aren't quite satisfied with "the new guy" well this little gem fills that void quite nicely. An amazing product..

Let's be honest. When Scar Symmetry revealed the departure of, quite possibly, the metal realms greatest current vocalist you could almost hear a collective gasp of dismay. "Holographic Universe" was an epic 5 star album! Christian Alverstam had a massive impact on its greatness as well as the previous two SS albums! Suddenly, "For Aeon's Past" is released and it is well and truly incredible! Take the torch and run I say! "Dark Matter Dimensions" takes a distant second to this mind blowing album by Solution .45! I have always appreciated Christian's ability to play both styles of clean and "gravel crusher" vocally and he does it to great effect on "Aeons".

The massive "Clandenstinity Now" deserves special mention as it logs in at over 16 minutes and in reality feels like 3 songs merged into one, but with a seamless perfection that has to be heard to be believed. It has everything!

"For Aeon's Past" makes my top 10 list for 2010. What a great year for metal so far, but this one gets moved into position half way through the year...and that is confidence! 5 stars.

Very new sounding. Great songs with phenomenal guitar work and amazing vocals. Songs are very heavy yet have a song-y or catchy chorus thanks to the vocal range of Christian Alvestam. He has the ability to sing with death metal vocal style but, he can also sing very well when the song needs it. The guitar work is a complete home run! If you like good metal music that musicians can appreciate then I highly recommend this cd for you! Metal Up!
