VERY comfortable, easily inflatable...and warrenty honored!, June 13, 2002
This review is from: AeroBed Raised Bed, Queen (Kitchen)
Is the raised Aerobed as good as its many t.v. commercials suggest? I have to differ with some of the other reviews I've read on it here: I love it -- and recently discovered that the company not only honors its warrenty, but goes out of its way to do so. Some time ago I bought a twin raised Aerobed as a sorely-needed gift for Greg, then 9, who was then staying at my house with his father and sister. Greg is into mechanical things so I let him set it up...and it was JUST as easy to do as in the commercial. He just plugged it in, clicked the little plastic stopper latch, pushed a button and within minutes the bed was completely filled. We didn't order any special linens so we made the bed with standard sheets, etc. He LOVED it. I also have two cats who jumped on it...if you recall the commercials show a tiger going on it (to show its durability). YES...it did eventually uninflate. I completely forgot about the warrenty and called Aerobed's customer service to tell them strictly as feedback that their product didn't last more than a year and that I felt shortchanged. I did NOT expect a refund or replacement and wasn't even asking them for it. The operator asked me if I had a receipt, and I said no. She then asked for my phone number and traced my purchase through their computer. She told me it was under warrenty and told me the easy procedure to get a new one. It arrived in a little over two weeks. FEW companies are as diligent as this in honoring their warrenties (and, no I am not connected with them...check my reviewer's profile and you will see that I am a ventriloquist). Here's why I like the Aeorbed: --It's easy to inflate. You can change the amount of air according to your comfort level. If it is completely filled it WILL keep its shape. --Even a child can inflate and uninflate it. --It does come with the easy storage bag. You can take it anywhere. --Construction is very solid. The leaks in ours seemed more in the latch than in the mattress, but if there is a mattress leak it can be duct taped. --When it's fully blown up it is actually a bit higher than a normal bed. And it is a REAL BED. --Very easy to use linens on this. You don't have to buy special sheets, blankets etc. --This company clearly stands by its product and is ready to honor its warrenty (to save customers and them time/hassle if your bed doesn't work they have you cut a key part of it off and send it back to them, then they send you the new bed, instead of having to send the whole thing back). Would I buy another? In an INSTANT. If I needed one this is a product that does live up to its commercial -- and is made by a company that stands by its product and its warrenty.

I think this bed would have been great ... except for the fact that it wouldn't stay inflated. The initial set-up was quick and I was quite happy with the firmness and the fact that it was the size/height of a normal bed. After a few hours the bed had noticeably deflated, not all the way, but enough that it was unusable. I checked for holes but couldn't find any. I inflated it fully, and a few hours later encountered the same problem. I contacted Aero and the person I spoke to suggested either of the 2 valves could be the cause, and that it wouldn't necessarily be obvious. The bed is also fairly heavy when deflated and as such wouldn't be as easily portable as I had imagined if traveling. I've read reviews for other models of the Aerobed on Epinions.com and they generally seem to be good. I'm returning the raised Aerobed and will be ordering one of their other models as a replacement.

Caveat emptor, July 14, 2003
This review is from: AeroBed Raised Bed, Queen (Kitchen)
I bought the queen-sized pillowtop Aerobed at Costco last April, as I have some pretty major back problems. I immediately thought I had found "the" solution, as I have tried just about every thing else. After about two weeks, the bed split on the side seam. Mind you, I weigh about 220, but the bed claimed it could support 900 or so pounds. I patched the bed with the included patch kit. The very next day, the same thing happened at the same seam, just a bit further down. I patched it again. Then, these little holes began to appear on the top of the mattress right where the seams are. I ended up using all the patching material, so I took it back to Costco and got an exchange. Two weeks later, the SAME THING started happening: little holes in the top of the bed and another side seam came undone. I patched until I ran of patching material. I took the second Aerobed back to Costco and they gave me another one. Two weeks later, the same thing happened. I have already patched two holes on the side (same place as the other two) and now I am getting the same little holes on the top. I go to Costco once a month to get groceries, and I hope that my Aerobed holds out long enough between trips. I don't know how long Costco will keep making exchanges for me. I wish I could afford a Tempurpedic. My recommendation: stay away from Aerobeds...you will only feel frustrated and angry at this is a terrible shoddy product
