4.0 out of 5 stars VERY comfortable, easily inflatable...and warrenty honored!
Is the raised Aerobed as good as its many t.v. commercials suggest? I have to differ with some of the other reviews I've read on it here: I love it -- and recently discovered that the company not only honors its warrenty, but goes out of its way to do so.

1.0 out of 5 stars Defective
I think this bed would have been great ... except for the fact that it wouldn't stay inflated. The initial set-up was quick and I was quite happy with the firmness and the fact that it was the size/height of a normal bed. After a few hours the bed had noticeably deflated, not all the way, but enough that it was unusable. I checked for holes but couldn't find any. I...

Is the raised Aerobed as good as its many t.v. commercials suggest? I have to differ with some of the other reviews I've read on it here: I love it -- and recently discovered that the company not only honors its warrenty, but goes out of its way to do so.

Some time ago I bought a twin raised Aerobed as a sorely-needed gift for Greg, then 9, who was then staying at my house with his father and sister. Greg is into mechanical things so I let him set it up...and it was JUST as easy to do as in the commercial. He just plugged it in, clicked the little plastic stopper latch, pushed a button and within minutes the bed was completely filled. We didn't order any special linens so we made the bed with standard sheets, etc. He LOVED it. I also have two cats who jumped on it...if you recall the commercials show a tiger going on it (to show its durability).

YES...it did eventually uninflate. I completely forgot about the warrenty and called Aerobed's customer service to tell them strictly as feedback that their product didn't last more than a year and that I felt shortchanged. I did NOT expect a refund or replacement and wasn't even asking them for it. The operator asked me if I had a receipt, and I said no. She then asked for my phone number and traced my purchase through their computer. She told me it was under warrenty and told me the easy procedure to get a new one. It arrived in a little over two weeks.

FEW companies are as diligent as this in honoring their warrenties (and, no I am not connected with them...check my reviewer's profile and you will see that I am a ventriloquist).
Here's why I like the Aeorbed:

--It's easy to inflate. You can change the amount of air according to your comfort level. If it is completely filled it WILL keep its shape.
--Even a child can inflate and uninflate it.
--It does come with the easy storage bag. You can take it anywhere.
--Construction is very solid. The leaks in ours seemed more in the latch than in the mattress, but if there is a mattress leak it can be duct taped.
--When it's fully blown up it is actually a bit higher than a normal bed. And it is a REAL BED.
--Very easy to use linens on this. You don't have to buy special sheets, blankets etc.
--This company clearly stands by its product and is ready to honor its warrenty (to save customers and them time/hassle if your bed doesn't work they have you cut a key part of it off and send it back to them, then they send you the new bed, instead of having to send the whole thing back).

Would I buy another? In an INSTANT. If I needed one this is a product that does live up to its commercial -- and is made by a company that stands by its product and its warrenty.

I inflated it fully, and a few hours later encountered the same problem. I contacted Aero and the person I spoke to suggested either of the 2 valves could be the cause, and that it wouldn't necessarily be obvious. The bed is also fairly heavy when deflated and as such wouldn't be as easily portable as I had imagined if traveling. I've read reviews for other models of the Aerobed on Epinions.com and they generally seem to be good. I'm returning the raised Aerobed and will be ordering one of their other models as a replacement.

I bought the queen-sized pillowtop Aerobed at Costco last April, as I have some pretty major back problems. I immediately thought I had found "the" solution, as I have tried just about every thing else.
After about two weeks, the bed split on the side seam. Mind you, I weigh about 220, but the bed claimed it could support 900 or so pounds. I patched the bed with the included patch kit. The very next day, the same thing happened at the same seam, just a bit further down. I patched it again.
Then, these little holes began to appear on the top of the mattress right where the seams are. I ended up using all the patching material, so I took it back to Costco and got an exchange.
Two weeks later, the SAME THING started happening: little holes in the top of the bed and another side seam came undone. I patched until I ran of patching material.
I took the second Aerobed back to Costco and they gave me another one.
Two weeks later, the same thing happened. I have already patched two holes on the side (same place as the other two) and now I am getting the same little holes on the top.
I go to Costco once a month to get groceries, and I hope that my Aerobed holds out long enough between trips. I don't know how long Costco will keep making exchanges for me. I wish I could afford a Tempurpedic.
My recommendation: stay away from Aerobeds...you will only feel frustrated and angry at this is a terrible shoddy product

1.0 out of 5 stars Prone to leaks, does not maintain shape, May 22, 2002

I've had mine for eight months now, slept on it daily for six of those. Within a couple of weeks, leaks would spring from holes that burst from one of the two stabliizer bars that protrude from either side of the bed. It appears that these are the weak points of the product. The seams that join the stabilizer bar to the bed tend to burst, probably caused from shifting your weight towards one end of the bed. The manual specifically tells you not to sit at the edge of the bed, but I suspect just climbing onto the bed and getting off is when the bed gets most of its stress. Or, if you are a restless sleeper like me, tossing and turning frequently, this could also exceed the maximum weight tolerance of the product. At this time, my bed has three known holes, all of which are repaired with the patch kits provided with the product.

My other chief complaint is that after long term usage, the bed does bow in the middle (which is where the manual suggests you sleep).

Overall, this product is just too susceptible to seam breakage due to everyday wear and tear. I also don't like having to stress over accidental punctures -- which hasn't happened yet -- and I could do better with something else.

4.0 out of 5 stars Over-all we've been pleased with the purchase, April 16, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: AeroBed Raised Bed, Queen (Kitchen)
We purchased the raised Aero Bed so that we would not have to ship a matress&boxspring across country. We got it as a temporary fix but have used it as our only bed for almost two years. We have cats and they have occasionally pierced the bed but with some patience, these are easy to find and fix. Harderto find have been the cracks in the joints and seams. Over our two years we have collected 6 of them - 4 have been in one particulary weak spot and all 6 of them have appeared in the last 2 months as our local weather pattern has had some extreme changes.

On the plus side, it is the most comfortable bed I have ever had, it is easy to transport, we have had no problems with needing adapters or the blower or any of the valves, and we have gotten more than we expected for the product. I would buy another one and I would recommend it overall.

This bed may be good for occassional use otherwise be prepared to pump air everytime you sleep on it as little air keeps on leaking all the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars House guest love it, November 20, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: AeroBed Raised Bed, Queen (Kitchen)
I have always purchased good quality product from this company. From camping to this queen bed for house guest - I trust the construction and life of the product. The company stands behind their warranty as well. This means a lot to me in this day and age.
--It's easy to inflate and keeps its shape even after 4 -5 days. Even my kids can do this project.
--You can fill the bed to fit your comfort level and this is a real full size queen mattress. Queen size sheets and blankets fit it perfectly. So no special sizes are required.

--It comes with the easy storage bag. You can store and take anywhere.

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't last, April 6, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: AeroBed Raised Bed, Queen (Kitchen)
Within 6 months of purchase, center seam failed causing huge bulge in center of mattress, making bed totally unusable. E-mail to company explaining problem and asking for return authorization resulted in them telling me to call their Customer Service instead. Am still awaiting return authorization paperwork!

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Embarrased, March 12, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: AeroBed Raised Bed, Queen (Kitchen)
We bought this bed right before last Christmas to use as a guest bed for some family that stayed with us during the holiday. We set it up Christmas Eve for its first use, which was very comfortable initially. The next morning we came down stairs to find our guests sleeping on the couch because the bed deflated almost 1/2 of the way. I was very embarrassed to say the least and felt terrible that their overnight stay at my house wasn't a restful one. Needless to say, we packed the bed up and had it shipped back to the company for a refund.

After reading the other reviews of folks who had similar problems with the bed as I did, I would not recommend taking your chances on this bed.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good, February 20, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: AeroBed Raised Bed, Queen (Kitchen)
I bought one of these as a temp solution to not having a bed, well its been over a year, I have slept on it every night. I've had guests use it and they all love it. Even my step father who is 6 foot 5 300lbs.It keeps its firmness pretty well. The one thing that did happen was that it has grown a bit. The original pad that came with it no longer gets close to fitting it, I now fit it with king size sheets. But besides that I've been happy with it so far.
