One HUGE drawback.,
By Brock Linahan (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Aero Sport All-Terrain Queen Bed, Brown (Kitchen)
One very important warning: This bed can ONLY be inflated after the pump has been plugged into a wall outlet and fully charged OR immediately if the pump is plugged into a car cigarette lighter with the provided adapter. It CAN NOT be inflated immediately when plugged into a wall outlet. The normal charge time is 12 hrs, but the initial charge time is 24 hrs. Thus, if you want to use it in your home, you MUST either still inflate it using a car cigarette lighter or wait 12-24 hrs before inflating it.
I've never before seen any chargable appliance that won't work immediately when plugged into a wall outlet. I have no idea why it will work immediately plugged into a car but not plugged into a wall outlet. Seems like a limitation of the wall AC adapter.

Comfortable, but issues with the pump,
This review is from: Aero Sport All-Terrain Twin Bed, Brown (Kitchen)
I got this product, and took it out on a weekend camping trip almost immediately. I was able to inflate it using the pump and the charger outlet in my car without an issue, and the mattress was VERY comfortable - better than any I'd used in the past.
The next weekend, I went to inflate it as a guest bed in my home, and found that it cannot take a direct AC power source - it must charge first. I then left the pump to charge for 24 hours, and it *still* would not hold enough juice to inflate the bed. It turns out my room mate had the same pump, and when I charged hers, it had the same issue. The mattress itself is wonderful, and provides a good night's sleep. However, the pump only seems to work on a DC (Car adapter) power source, and I can't seem to find a 3rd Party AC pump that will work with it.

Beware this Product AND Amazon Returns Policy!,

This review is from: Aero Sport All-Terrain Queen Bed, Brown (Kitchen)
This item is described as an "all terrain" air mattress, yet my parents' plushly carpeted living room floor proved too rugged for it, and it failed to hold air after just one night of use over the Christmas holidays.
A slip of paper inside the Aerobed box says very hysterically, "If this product fails to function, do not return it to its place of purchase! Instead, call our customer service number at" blah blah blah. Which I did, only to be told, "Oh, if you bought it from Amazon, you need to contact them about the problem." What? To my dismay, I discovered Amazon's return policy does not allow for monetary refunds on opened goods. After arguing about this for several minutes on the telephone with Amazon's India-based customer service representative, I reluctantly agreed to accept a replacement bed. I had no use for this new bed until five months later, when I again visited the harsh climate of my parents' living room. With high hopes and in the face of extreme weather conditions, such as a comfortably oscillating fan, I aired up the replacement all-terrain bed, added bedclothes, and hopped in for a good night's rest. The Aerobed held air for an astonishing 45 minutes before deflating. I want to get my MONEY BACK, and, honestly, if the people at Amazon had to spend five nights on my parents' hideously uncomfortable twin hideabed because of a defective product sold by their company, they would be completely on my side in this matter. Understandably, I do not want to take a THIRD chance on getting a defective replacement Aerobed. There is no visible reason why these two Aerobeds failed to function. We followed all the instructions. The bed inflated beautifully. It was only the STAYING inflated part that was lacking. And my husband and I are not 300-pound jumbos. We're very average-sized people who simply wanted a few restful nights on an inflatable mattress that bills itself as being very rugged. Instead, we alternated between one of us sleeping on the aforementioned hideabed from h*ll and the other sleeping in a sleeping bag on the floor. That might be all right when you're 8, but we're approximately 40 years beyond that. If you do decide to buy this bed, DO NOT BUY IT FROM AMAZON!! Buy it from an actual bricks-and-mortar store, where you can return it for actual greenbacks in your actual palm (or, you know, a credit to your debit card). Until Amazon revises its outdated returns policy, I will never again purchase anything other than a book from them. It's just way too chancy. I'm out 80 bucks plus chiropractic bills. Live and learn.

A Happy Camper!,

This review is from: Aero Sport All-Terrain Twin Bed, Brown (Kitchen)
I bought this bed (twin size) for a camping trip and I was very apprehensive about sleeping on it because I'm not the type of person that can sleep on just any bed. I'm pretty good at tossing and turning in my own bed, at home. However, I was pleasantly surprised when, the first night that I slept on it, I closed my eyes and didn't wake up until morning. The bed didn't fight me at all. I was very comfortable and I was so rested and so pleased with the bed that I decided to write this review.
The All-Terain bed is truly effortless to inflate and to take down and you can also adjust the firmness to suit your needs. The one thing that I would alert you to is that if it is cold, where you are camping and you are not sleeping, in a sleeping bag, put an insulated pad on the bed. The cold will come through the mattress. Other than that you should have a great rest. I did and I'm looking forward to another restful camping trip soon.

Bed A+, Pump D,
By Anderson (Twin Cities) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Aero Sport All-Terrain Queen Bed, Brown (Kitchen)
Bed is terrific - two of us slept on it for four nights of camping. Didn't have to refill it once, nor did we feel like we slept on an "inflate-a-bed." I recommend the queen - it's actually the size of a double. I couldn't imagine trying to get two people on anything smaller. My only complaint is the pump. We followed all of the instructions very closely, and allowed the pump to charge for the full 24 hours before use. It ran out of juice very, very fast. It did recharge in the 12 hours (as it states), but quickly ran out again when we were testing it. Bed deserves an A+, pump deserves a D.

Excellent Guest/Camping Bed,
By Simmon Mariani "Abides" (Woodinville, WA) - See all my reviews

I'm not sure of the defects that other reviewers have had, but I've had this bed for more than a year and it's exactly what the description says.
I've used it in the bed of my truck, on the rough terrain of a carpeted guest room and in my tent various times. I've had guests use it for 5 weeks straight without problems. It's normal for most "temporary" air beds to lose some air, but i had guests with a combined weight of over 400lbs sleep on this for 5 days prior to needing a quick fill with the pump to tighten it up. Would I use it directly on rocky ground, probably not, but it's been a great product for me and my guests. Plus, you can't beat having a rechargeable pump that works from 120v & 12v!

Aero Bed has learned from mistakes,

My last Aero Bed was lumpy, uncomfortable, and not very durable. I used it twice a year and it broke in about six years. It was uncomfortable to the point that my wife would prefer paying for a hotel to sleeping on it. This one is comfortable (not like a regular bed, but still very nice for a portable) and it is durable (the material is thicker and the seams are wider). I recommend this for camping or just for visiting people without a spare bed.
If you have the money, there is a version with memory foam on it. It is much larger and not practical for every use, but if you have the money and it is staying in one place waiting for a guest to use it, that is a better bed by far...

Best Quality for this Avid Camper,

This is the best air mattress (actually we bought 2) I have ever used. It really only takes 1 minute or less to inflate. We have slept on them for over a week at a time and never had to re-inflate. We have had several air mattresses and this one is the most comfortable to sleep on. Also, deflating the mattress is a breeze (pun intended). Just open the valve and almost instantly the mattress is deflated. It rolls up and packs tightly. The storage bag that comes with the mattress is oversized. We have put both of our mattresses in one bag and also both pumps and the other storage bag. There still is room left over. Aero is definatly a name that will be used by this household for a long time.

Groovy Bed,

Bought this about a month ago as a spare bed and something to travel with. This bed is amazingly comfortable! I expected a lot less! If you travel or sleep away from home often, this is what you need! I took a recommendation to spend the extra money on Aero products and I would recommend them in return now. Stays inflated all night, is not over or under-inflated, very comfortable, seems very durable, quick and easy to deflate and pack up when done in the morning, takes almost no space when rolled up, awesome bed! That's my 2 cents.

Nothing But Success!!!,
This review is from: Aero Sport All-Terrain Queen Bed, Brown (Kitchen)
Sorry to hear of some of the customer's misfortunes with this bed. This bed is very well constructed and includes a quality pump. I purchased this bed about 9 months ago. I have used it about 6-8 times and it is the most comfortable air mattress I have ever slept on. I still haven't taken it camping, although I plan to soon as that what it's designed for. It works great for any situation: use it for guests, take it with you when staying at friend's/relatives homes, use as extra bed in hotels to avoid additional roll-away bed fees, great extra bed for lake/vacation homes, set up in the living room for extra lounging space to watch the game, and of course for camping. I'm not sure why this bed is less expensive than some of the the other Aero models because it seems just as tough, comfortable and feature-packed as they are. This is a quality built bed that will last for years. It holds a lot of weight without any/minimal air loss during the night - my brother and I slept on it for a combined weight of over 550lbs with no problem. It has a nice velor top with raised pillow area to so you don't have to touch the "cold" vinyl. It really does go up in nearly a minute, I was amazed! It deflates in seconds through the large valve and only takes a few minutes to totally put away. Includes a great drawstring duffel/carry bag with plenty of room for accessories too. I always hate items that come with bags that you can never get the item back in , ie. sleeping bags, tents, etc. - Not a problem here, you don't even have to try to fold the bed up small and it still fits with ease. The coolest thing about this bed is the cordless pump, it seems you can blow up your bed 2-3 times before it runs out of juice. It's nice not to hassle with cords and try to find an outlet when you're setting up the bed. However, the worst thing about this bed also happens to be the cordless pump. While it comes with an AC wall charger it is ONLY a charger and will not operate the pump if the battery is dead. But yet, they also include a 12volt car charger that does operate the pump regardless of whether the pump battery is dead or not. Duh Aero folks, this isn't rocket surgery, for a few more bucks you could have made it work with the AC "charger" as well. Not quite sure what they were thinking other than this is supposed to be used for camping. Any way, worse case scenario if the battery is dead and you're at a house, just carry the thing out to a car and plug it in (probably not much fun if it's cold out, though) - If you're camping, then it won't be an inconvenience, as long as there's a car near by. All in all, it's not a deal breaker and I would still highly recommend this bed for the money. Just remember to ensure that you charge your pump if you're going to use the bed and you won't have any power issues (it does hold a good charge for several weeks, which is nice). You can always charge your pump every day while camping, if there's an AC outlet around, too - but remember, it's packed with Ni-Cad batteries so always run them down before recharging to ensure maximum battery power and life. Just remember a few simple guidelines and you'll be pleased with this set up for years to come! I would give it 4.5 to 4.75 stars if I could, but just can't justify 5 (which to me would be absolutely perfect).
