Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Aero-Tech is the only manufacturer of 20,000 hour rated, long-life incandescent bulbs in America. The less time and money spent on lights bulbs the better. Aero-Tech Light Bulbs are the brightest idea in lights bulbs since the days of Thomas Edison. Not one break-through, but THREE: 1) Extra durable filament, 2) Extra protection against vibration, 3) Extra strength to absorb voltage surges. 26 times the life of average bulbs saving labor & replacement costs. Brass base eliminates corrosion and prevents base from sticking in socket. 5 support wires help provide long life with excellent resistance to vibration and shock. Special rare Krypton gas mixture reduces heat and prolongs filament life. 60-watt A-19 20,000 hour long life incandescendant clear light bulb, (6-pack).

Product Description

Long-life 60-watt clear light bulb will burn 20,000 hours before needing replacement. The average light bulb lasts about 750 hours, which can seem a very short time if the bulb is located in a hard-to-reach location. Replace your standard light bulbs with bulbs manufactured to burn up to 26 times longer than the average general service bulb. The 20,000-Hour 60-Watt light bulbs are a package of six clear bulbs designed to burn for 20,000 hours. Instead of using an ordinary filament with no support, The 20,000-Hour 60-Watt light bulbs have an extra heavy-duty pure chemically treated 20,000-hour filament supported by five support wires and two lead wires, which help provide long life and excellent resistance to vibration and shock. They use an expensive krypton rare gas element, which reduces heat and prolongs filament life. A reflector disc protects the basing cement from heat and directs more light on your task area. The brass base eliminates corrosion and prevents the lamp from sticking in a socket.

Low lumen output (530) which compares to a typical 40 watt bulb but this one dissipates 60 watts so don't buy it for efficiency, buy it for the long life rating.

So quick recap: No humming/noise, Dimmable to a usable level (15% is lowest), no flicker at all, and like 85% instant on (no delay).

When the tree-huggers in congress outlawed the incandescent bulb I laid in a good stock of these. I have used them extensively since then. They last a long time and...as a second and valuable advantage, do not hum or otherwise make annoying sounds when used with electronic dimmer circuits. A must-have for your listening room if you're a hi-fi type or home theater fanatic.

I've tried these bulbs with 2 different brands of dimmer switches, but out of 8 bulbs, 2 failed within a day, and 2 more within a week. The manufacturer has no online support, nor online contact information. No contact info on the bulbs either. Save your empty box for the customer service phone number. When you call, it's an answering machine, and you'll get no callback. The seller isn't set up for handling DoA refunds, so you will need to be persistent.

For the ones that did not fail, you can hear the AC buz of the step-up transformer at max power if you're very close. If you turn it down to low, these are fairly loud. Not a major issue, but just for complete review.

When full bright, the light color is good.

Overall, I recommend against ULA bulbs due to poor product.

I wanted these to be worth it, and maybe they are, BUT... Ok, I read the other reviews and as I suspected, they don't dim very well. They don't get as dim as I would like and they often flicker in a very annoying manner. This flickering also often (but not always) interferes with the audio portion of my broadcast HDTV reception. On one evening the flickering turned into a rhythmic off/on/off/on display that went on for several minutes until I just turned them off (I have them in 3 sconces in my living room).

But the really objectionable thing here was what US Fairytales charged for shipping! Almost as much as the bulbs themselves cost! I decided that it was still the best deal out there, so I bought them anyway. Had they worked a little better I might not complain, but when these wear out I'm moving to LEDs no matter what they cost. I just don't think the technology is there for dimmable CFLs, and I've seen the LEDs and they WORK!

Its rare to find a flourescent that will work in a dimmable fixture. These were a great price, work great, and have much brighter light than most flourescent bults..

Not worth the money...screwed in 10 of them and one burnt out within seconds...4 months later 2 more went out...it looks well made with more filiment supports. I would not buy again at half the price...sorry...better off getting warm LEDs
