I am a huge fan of the herb n serve, it blends and chops wonderfully and is very quiet and very fast, and easy to clean. simple to make delicious fresh vinaigrette with your aerogarden or other herbs. it has a small footprint so you can set the whole thing in the frideg to store leftover vinagrette and just give it a quick pulse to re-mix when you are ready to use.

This product is wonderful. I can mix my favorite dressing without having to shake the bottle. This is a great idea!

Wonderful until the blades stop spinning,
This review is from: AeroGarden Herb 'n Serve Fresh Herb Vinaigrette and Marinade Maker (Lawn & Patio)
I had received my first Herb N Serve in December to accompany the Aerogarden I had just purchased. I was very excited to use this after the herbs had grown large enough to pick. I tried the Herb N Serve right out of the box to make sure that the motor ran and the blades spun, and everything appeared to be in working order. A few weeks later when I was ready to use it to blend some of the herbs I had just grown, I found that it didn't work at all anymore. I contacted Aerogarden, and the representive was very helpful and promptly shipped me a brand new unit, no questions asked. When i received the new Herb N Serve, I tested it, and was very pleased to find that it worked. However, I only was able to make two salad dressings before the motor stopped working again. I now have two units, neither which works, so I just use them to store salad dressings and marinades that I have made with my food processor. Oh well.

I love this small gadget - makes great salad dressing - but also works for a million other things - I use it to make cocktails - Mojitos for example - and any sauce or marinade you might need when cooking - basically - if the recipe uses the work "whisk" or "emulsify" - this is the way to do it fast and easy. Its easily stored (the size of a 12 oz water glass). To clean - well, the simple thing is to fill it half way with water - add a couple drops of liquid soap - and turn it on. This is something I wouldn't want to be without.

I got this to go with our 2 aerogardens. After my 7 year old helps harvest lettuce, she helps pick herbs and makes the dressing (with supervision of course). It works great and she asks for salad almost every night and proudly tells guests that she made it.
As for specifics, it is easy to operate. The lines on the bottle make it simple to measure and it stores easily in the fridge while the base takes up very little space under the counter. The battery operation (we use rechargeable) makes it easy to remix each time we bring it out. Last, it is very easy to disassemble, clean and reassemble. Overall, it is a simple appliance that works as advertised. No frills, no extras and you could do it on your own very easily with a small blender, a dressing bottle and a measuring cup. We have not used it to make marinades, as that is something we find easier to just do by hand. But with that said, we make our own dressings and our children have taken ownership of the veggie side of diner.

This item lack of quality. The batteries seem not to fix the design and they are so many it would be better to think in a converter that allow this stuff to be plugged to the wall. The bottle does not durable, instead it suggest users have to prepare a considerable amount of vinaigrette or marinade with each use. When it comes to cleaning, it is a mess. Sorry AeroGarden, hire better guys in product R&D. This sucks.

In the interests of full disclosure, I'm EXTREMELY fussy about anything to do with food prep or cooking -- and thus, what bugs me may well be no problem at all for someone else.
This gadget is very difficult to get really clean. With all due respect to other users, IMHO putting dishwashing liquid and water into it and letting it whirl, simply doesn't cut it. There may be no more herb bits, but that doesn't mean it's CLEAN. The only way to remove the film of oil which inevitably clings to the inside and which 'whirling' doesn't remove at all, is to get something in there physically. Which means brush-rinse-brush-rinse-brush rinse. The plastic holds odors. Not sure if it's the bottom of the container or the sides or both, but it does. Again, it may not bother you that when the thing is supposedly clean, it still smells of the last thing you used it for .... but it sure bothers me. It leaks ... not dramatically, but definitely somewhat ..from the locking point (bottom of carafe to top of base). Overall, IMHO a waste of money. I'll be replacing it with a Rosle Dual Speed Milk and Sauce Frother (same price, btw -- wish I had gotten this first instead!!) which will require the use of a separate "container" (oh the horror, LOL) but at least I know I'll be able to get 100% clean and won't have any odor-retention issues (I'd hate to have to make a raspberry vinaigrette in the AeroGarden the next thing after making a garlic dressing... ugh).

I was excited to receive my Herb'n'Serve because it looked like the perfect gadget for an herb-grower like me. UNFORTUNATELY, when I set it up, I found that the (included) six AA batteries were already dead so I haven't used it yet. Still in hopes...
The customer service rep said it was obvious the unit had been sitting at Canadian Tire for a long time and the batteries were kaput.

I have ordered these over the last 2 years. Given them as gifts and for myself. When they work I love the product but the reason I keep reordering them is after 6 uses or so stop working even with new batteries.

I love the way this chops the herbs and I like the measurements on the side. However, the motor burns up or something happens. I've bought two of them, and each time the batteries end their life, so does the motor. I have never been able to get it to function with new batteries.
