3.0 out of 5 stars Nice design, but the smell!
The mattress worked as advertised, and I wasted only a little time
figuring out how to turn on the air pump---it pumps only when
attached. The biggest problem is the "new plastic" smell, which
remained quite obnoxious even after 3 days of airing out the
fully inflated mattress (at room temperature). At that point all

This review is from: Aerobed Guest Choice Inflatable Bed (Kitchen)
I bought this Areobed (or at the least, a model very similar) 8 years ago and have had nothing but good experiences. It takes about 30 seconds to inflate with the pump and can easily be deflated in about a minute. I use this frequently when guests come to town and often bring it with me on trips out of town and haven't had any problems with leaks. It does deflate a little after being inflated for a few days, but it's nothing a little more air cannot fix. I have tried friends' inflatable mattresses by other brands and find this one the easiest to inflate. Other brands make it tricky to remove the pump without losing significant air and with this Areobed design this is not the case which allows me to inflate the bed MUCH faster. Also having little space I appreciated that when folded up in its bag it can be stored compactly in my closet.

My only complaint is that getting everything to fit in the bag can be a bit tricky unless you fold everything just right so I do wish the bag was a little bit bigger. However overall I have been satisfied and impressed that it has maintained its durability for so long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Guest Bed for visiting parents, April 25, 2008
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We purchased this queen sized aero bed for our daughter and son-in-law who have recently moved to a 2 bedroom condo in New Haven, CT. The second bedroom is really their library/reading room/office, so it is not handy to have it fixed up as a bedroom ... unless the parents or other family comes for a visit. We unfurled the small, almost shoebox-sized, unused aero bed and let the automatic inflater do its thing, readying our bed for use within 2 minutes. We slept very well each night for 5 nights. If the mattress needed to be firmed up, it was just a push-button affair, and the same if it seemed a bit too firm. We didn't even have to get out of the bed to adjust it. When our stay was over, back into the provided bag it went, neatly tucked away in a SMALL space on their closet shelf.

I would recommend this bed any time and to any one. It is so comfortable that I would rate it high even if there IS a bed in a spare bedroom. Some of the beds that our families have as "spares" may not be the most comfortable, but this is. Way to go, aero-bed! We enjoyed being with our family so much more than in a motel, and the cost for our five nights of great sleep was way less than the cost of a motel!

I could do was apologize to my house guest. One reviewer
recommended giving any new Aerobed at least a couple of days to
air out before its first use. I would change that advice to strongly
recommend allowing at least a week.

1.0 out of 5 stars Aerobed's product is garbage and their customer service is even worse!, January 2, 2010
This review is from: Aerobed Guest Choice Inflatable Bed (Kitchen)
Do not just take my word for it. See similar complaints all over the internet; I bought their top of the line mattress and withing six months it leaked badly. More on that in a minute. First let me tell you about my experience with Aerobed Customer Diservice department. Getting a replacement was an exercise in patience and persistence. First call took at least 20 minutes to get a live person to answer. They promised to email me a claim form which I did not receive. So, another call and another 20-30 min on hold. Claim form was promised again. This time in order to avoid another call back I requested it to be sent to 2 email addresses just to be sure. Neither email was received. Another call, another 20-30 min hold time. This time I told them I would not hang up until I got the email. Amazingly, the email arrived this time. Among other things this email will recommend that you send in your claim using a form of delivery that is traceable. Their policy requires you cut off a certain label and return it to them. Cutting out this label destroys the old product. So for some reason if your claim got lost in the mail you would be out of luck. Next time I called I was driving. After another 20-30 min on hold, I told them I was calling to confirm my order was received. I was asked if I had a tracking number. Minor mistake; I had left that at home. I asked the rep if he could please first try to locate my claim and if he could not locate it I would then call back with tracking number. I was told they will not even loolk for your claim unless you provide a tracking number. Bottom line:

DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR WARRANTY CLAIM WITHOUT A TRACKING NUMBER OR YOUR CLAIM WILL NEVER BE PROCESSED!!!

What transpired over the next month was multiple call backs. Every one of them resulting in 20-30 min hold time. Every one resulted in a broken promise that replacement would ship within either a few days or a week. One, excuse was that they were closed for inventory. So of course that drug it out even longer.

I finally received a replacement only after I made enough noise to Amazon that they apparently intervened on my behalf with the manufacturer. The replacement I got after all that was a smaller cheaper model with less features. It came in a generic brown cardboard box with just the dimensions and country of origin (China) rather then the glossy packaging of the origin product. I am left to speculate that they bought truckloads of the cheapest inferior product they could find in order to rid themselves of hundreds or thousands of legitimately disgruntled warranty claimants who were clogging their phone lines.

Within several months, the replacement leaked worse then the original.

1.0 out of 5 stars My 3rd and last AERO bed. They all leaked under 6 months., February 20, 2010
By
This review is from: Aerobed Guest Choice Inflatable Bed (Kitchen)
Over the years I've owned 3 AERO BEDs for travel and a extra bed at home. All 3 leaked within 6 months and after a dozen or so inflations.Although I bought the first two at Bed Bath & Beyond, when they went bad I tried repeatedly to warranty them by phone as AERO BEDs instructions advise. When hold times became unreasonable (over 20 minutes) I hung up and took them back to the place of purchase for exchange in one instance and refund in another. This time I bought it at Amazon.com .Once it failed I again tried repeatedly to reach AERO BED's customer service and found even though it had been several years since My first two purchases, hold times were still in excess of 20 minutes.Life is to short, I hung up.This is obviously part of AERO BED's marketing stradegy. It's to bad because if they were reliable I'd buy an extra, recommend them and give them as gifts. But they are designed to fail. They always leak at the same place, the weld seams on the top.For the disposable low quality nature of this product and the uselessness of the warranty it significantly overpriced. It's hard to think of how many of these leak stricken beds are just contibuting to the other NON-Recyclables in land fills instead of being useful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable Aerobed, January 8, 2009
Compact travel bag
Puncture resistant
Quick to set up
Fits standard size bedding
Rapid deflation
Easy to re-pack
We enjoyed being able to carry an extra bed on long trips. The adjustable pressure made it unbelievably comfortable to sleep on. Simple to operate, its convenient adjustments assured ideal cushioning. It's a great extra bed for small homes or apartments. One caution: make sure the Aerobed is at room temperature before inflating. A frozen Aerobed might crack during inflation and a cold bed might collect condensation being inflated in a warm room.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a difference a quality buy makes, April 10, 2008
By
dragonness (Cambridge, MA) - See all my reviews
We bought this bed some five years ago and have used it regularly for guests, as a second bed when we had our babies for those first weeks when there's no sleep routine, and we've also taken it when travelling to Europe. It's a world away from squeaky, cheap, plastic blow-up beds. This thing is COM-fortable! It is well designed and most importantly, well made. It packs small, and you don't have to work hard to get it back into the bag that comes with it, because for once the bag is roomy enough, plus soft and easy to use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good buy for those needing an extra bed without alot of cash, November 3, 2006

Upon receipt of the first product, the mattress leaked the first time it was used. I called the company and they replaced the item with no issues. The second bed I currently have, works great. I have used it numerous times. I would definitely recommend this bed. However, be forewarned that small leaks are common but not the end of the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars We love it., October 11, 2008

This review is from: Aerobed Guest Choice Inflatable Bed (Kitchen)
This has been the best air mattress for our son's bunk bed. He's almost 7 and we're buying another one. It has lasted several years, but due to a hyper kid we're now getting another. The pump still works, and has never failed us. It inflates the mattress to full potential. The release valve is large enough to let air out fast. It's easier to use than a spring mattress for a bunk bed with a lower trundle drawer. Good luck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, May 15, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Got it, opened it, filled it with air once and slept on it for two weeks without a problem. Nice.
I had a full-sized aerobed for years without a problem, but then it started to fail in various places. No saving it.
I went with the twin because of limited floor space at my son's house and it worked out great.
