4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad
This mattress is fine - I didn't care for the intense smell it has when you first use it, and it also has fairly pronounced bumps on the top that you may need to cover with a thick blanket. However, it served its purpose well for an overnight guest and inflated and deflated easily. Note - if you're using this on a non-carpeted floor, place a sheet under it to avoid the...

I purchased 2 of these aerobeds from Amazon due to company coming into town.

First- it's very comfortable. I enjoyed sleeping on them. No back pain. Variable inflation was terrific- I was able to get it exactly how I like it.

BUT....one of the two aerobeds had a small leak. VERY ANNOYING! It would lose about 20% of the air during the night. (I...

This is puncture resistant heavy gauge. If the description doesn't say puncture resistant heavy gauge, it wont last long. I got a queen size that I paid $45 for that was good for 2 months. How do you patch the inner lining that separates the tubes? I ended up sleaping on 6 small tubes, and 1 huge one at the edge of the bed. Having previously gotten this same bed in a twin (must have been one of the last ones to buy), I know this one will hold up. If you go for the cheap "industrial strength" beds, they'll last about 2 to 4 months. If you go for the puncture resistant, it'll last a lot longer. Even though it costs a bit more, buying the less expensive ones costs more in the long run (they give you patches, but how are you going to find the puncture?). I'd say go for the puncture resistant, and save trouble down the road. Take it from a guy that's tossed 2 cheap air beds.

4.0 out of 5 stars Satisfied, April 10, 2008

It took me a while to get used to the ridges on top, until I realized you shouldn't inflate it fully. Now it's very comfortable, and remains inflated for at least 3-4 days. The only complaint is it gets rather cold at night because the air inside is cold. I ended up putting a blanket on top of it. Been having good night sleep ever since.

(I weigh 100 lbs- not very big. I can't imagine how fast it would deflate if I were a 300lb football player!)

It was very disappointing to receive a faulty product. I had no choice but to use the bed for the weekend, because we didn't have time to purchase another.

If ordering this product, I would only order from Amazon due to the ease of their return policy. I would rate the product higher (perhaps even 5 stars), except I can't overlook the defective unit I received. That's the only reason I've knocked it down to 3 stars.

I know that other people have felt that the plastic/vinyl material makes the aerobed somewhat hot. I purchased a mattress pad to use with the bed and it was fine.

Note: it does smell a bit when you get it out of the box- I opened it a few days before needing it to air it out and the smell was gone by the time I needed to use it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The height is worth it!, November 9, 2008

I had a twin size regular aerobed before purchasing this one. The raised "platform" made this bed much more comfortable and easy to get in and out of. It didn't take too long to inflate, and actually deflates better than my old aerobed because it has a "whoosh" valve at the base in addition to the pump at the top. I don't think I even used the pump to deflate it, I just left the valves open and let it sit for a day.

The only negative comment I have about this bed is that it doesn't have the memory foam topper built in like some other models do. Perhaps aerobed makes a raised + memory foam version, but this one was on sale.

4.0 out of 5 stars air mattress, April 25, 2008
The Aerobed provided very good service during a move that had normal bedding in transit. I wouldn't use it in place of hard bedding

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, April 20, 2009
I bought this because I was having a friend stay over for the weekend. She's older and that's why I thought that this being a raised bed would be ideal. It's great! Inflated and deflated in minutes. I didn't like that I had to press and hold the button during the whole inflation process but it wasn't very long. Can't beat the price either. I am very happy with this purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars For a good nights rest, November 18, 2008
I recently got an aerobed Instasleep to take with me on all my traveling. This bed sleeps wonderfully and stayed fully inflated all night long. With some blankets and sheets this item truly feels as though you are sleeping on a real bed. It is easy to use buy simply plugging it in and blowing it up. Battery operated pumps are also available for the more rugged individuals. While this bed inflates to a good size it deflates nicely and is easy to put back into the travel bag. For those of you who have not tried an aerobed for a while I would highly recommend this one. It may not be a real bed but it provides a good nights sleep when on the road or when company comes. I give the aerobed instasleep high ratings.

2.0 out of 5 stars Would probably be nice..if it didn't leak, April 11, 2009
This review is from: Aerobed InstaSleep Raised Inflatable Bed (Kitchen)
Like one of the other reviews for this bed, my bed arrived with a leak at the main pump level. They give you a small repair kit, but that is if the leak is on the actual plastic part...this leak was not and is unfixable. The actual company that sent us the airbed should be put out of business. In this day and age, it is unacceptable to take longer than 6 business days to deliver a product. Sites such as newegg became so popular because of their extremely fast shipping. This is one of the slowest shipping items I have received in 5+ years. Not only that, but they did not pack it in a box. They literally put the shipping label on the PRODUCT box and by the time it got here, it was completely beat up, and you couldn't even read the address it was supposed to be delivered to. Again, what genius thought that, that is an acceptable way to run a business? Probably a genius who will go bankrupt... Anyways, the only reason I didn't give it a 1 star is because if it was a working product, it seems like it would be pretty nice. Alas, now I have to go through the hassle of returning this piece of junk and will probably now buy from a brick and mortar store, for easier returns, since the bed has shown me it is unreliable.

**edit 2**
Not only was this bed a bust...but customer service from AeroBed is simply awful. This bed split a seam in two places 10 months after purchase. Not a puncture..a faulty seam was the problem. I contacted AeroBed via email. Their response took two weeks..and was not at all useful, either. I had since PHONED them (waiting for over an HOUR on one call)then followed up by emailing them my Amazon receipt as proof of purchase. I also FAXED them a copy.

The response to that was zero, nada, nothing.

While on the phone I got to listen to their ad blather...how great a product they make, how AeroBed is the best.

Balderdash.

If you think it's fine to spend more money on an inflatable from AeroBed than any other similar product (true at the time I purchased this piece, have it fail due to shoddy workmanship within the warranty period..and then be IGNORED by the manufacturer..then an AeroBed product is for YOU!!

___________________________________________________________

I have used this Aerobed for a couple of months now. It holds air, is easily adjustable with the push-button activated pump to inflate it and the push valve to soften it up.

What is unfortunate is the sleeping surface. I did read an earlier review that mentioned the ribbed structure being a negative..and I agree. The ribs are far too pronounced to be comfortable unless you have it inflated to a quite soft state...or, as in my case, have several comforters on top of it.

The Coleman air bed I was using had a far superior sleeping surface..a more plush velour that was VERY comfortable to sleep on. If the valve had not failed, I'd still be using it.

The shape of the bottom is nice..gives considerable more support if you happen to sleep near the edge, or if you sit on the edge of the bed.

Another reviewer commented on the smell...it DOES stink for awhile, as in a couple of weeks.

The fact that it HOLDS air is the biggest + to me (see **edit** remarks. It didn't last)..and that it easily adjusts to the firmness level desired. The sleep surface doesn't make me wish I hadn't bought it. I'd just me MUCH happier with it if someone had given a bit of thought to its construction.

Not ALL AeroBeds have the same surface..and I've seen disclaimers in some ads saying the pictures may not be exactly the same as the shipped merchandise. In this case? The picture WAS exactly as the bed received.

Sure would be smart of AeroBed to change it. I'd imagine a good number of folks wouldn't care for having to adjust their position on the bed to fit 'in' a particular crack to be comfortable.

**edit 1**
Eleven months later..it's broke. One of the seams on the top failed. Two pieces of vinyl come 'just' together at a 1/8" length. It's not that a weld came loose...it's that it wasn't put together right in the first place.

I have used this product every night since I got it. Maybe it is too much to expect...but I certainly thought that it would last a good bit longer than this.

Now I get to fuss with Aerobed's warranty. If it takes less than WEEKS to get that resolved, I'll be surprised.
