This review is from: Aerobic Pedal Exerciser - Use for Arms & Legs (Health and Beauty)
Have had this product for about two weeks. Works well, reasonably quiet making only a soft whooshing sound in use, and sometimes a tiny and barely noticable squeak from a pedal. (This product beats the more expensive Kettler product hands down, which was extremely noisy.) It might not look like high technology, but it sure gets the job done. It doesn't take up much room. I use it for 30 minutes a day for my legs, and 10 minutes a day for my arms. Building up my time, but I've already been able to slip into my jeans with far less of a struggle since using this cycle and eating better quality (not less quantity) foods. I needed something that I would actually use and not get tired of - this is it. I can watch tv, listen to radio, or read a book while using it. What's not to like? Very nice. Thanks for a nice product.

This review is from: Aerobic Pedal Exerciser - Use for Arms & Legs (Health and Beauty)
This is a very handy exerciser. I originally came to Amazon looking for a pedal exerciser primarily for my arms, since I used to use my recumbent bicycle, for that purpose, and to great effect. That piece of equipment simply took up way too much space...and since I couldn't exercise both my arms and legs on it at the same time, I came to the conclusion that it was inefficient.I now have a full size elliptical exerciser that I have been using for a number of years. I try to work out on it for an hour at a go, at least five days a week. I say that I try, but finding the time can be a bit of a problem. Once my husband and I are home together, our time is so limited, or so it seems, that going off for an hour, can seem pretty unsociable. The great thing about this pedal exerciser, is that I can use it while hanging out and talking, or while watching DVDs, or even while on the computer....although my pull out keyboard tray is low, and the exerciser only works underneath it if I am willing to pedal and type while in a luge position!! I sit the exerciser to the side of my desk, and work at it side saddle.(Okay, so that might not be for everyone; maybe just me and the queen!!) I have the resistance turned up all the way on mine, which means I can work up a sweat on the thing, and also that it is quite efficient at bringing down the old blood sugar, without making me feel like I am suffering a cruel penance for that deli lunch. Yes, it does get hot, after a few minutes of serious pedaling, and you might find that once the pedal exerciser has cooled, it may seem like the resistance has gone slack, the next time you use it...but give it a few minutes of working out, and you will find that the resistance comes back up, as it warms up...at least, that has been my experience. As other reviewers have said, this is good for keeping in shape when you can't get out, or working back into shape after an injury, and to use to great advantage while sitting in front of the TV or computer. I would Add the very big bonus of being helpful in keeping down blood sugar...and I have found that pedaling with my hands , when it is on high resistance and on the floor, is great for firming up both the shoulders and back, as well as the arms. For some strange reason, my elliptical just doesn't seem to do much for my arms, and working on them specifically seems to be much more effective. This exerciser helps me cut down on the guilt I feel, when I just can't get to that hour long elliptical workout, and thus, it is good for keeping away feelings of anxiousness or frustration. I still use my elliptical, whenever possible, but this thing has definitely become a big part of my overall exercise program....and it hasn't squeaked on me, yet!!

Nice Little Workout - Keeps Blood Circulating,
By Jennifer Pippo "Love to Exercise but Lazy" (Providence, RI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Aerobic Pedal Exerciser - Use for Arms & Legs (Health and Beauty)
The bike pedals might seem easy at first, but after you do 15 minutes of pedaling on the hardest level, its actually a pretty good workout. Its really good to just keep your legs circulating while you are at work on the computer or at the desk. You can also add ankle weights if you want to pedal harder. But I just like being able to move my legs around while I sit down.

I PURCHASED THIS PRODUCT FOR MY 89 YEAR OLD MOTHER WHO HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET OUT AND WALK IN THE SNOWY WINTER WE HAVE HAD IN NORTHERN OHIO. SHE ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT, SHE HAS BEEN ABLE TO EXCERCISE AND STRENGTHEN HER LEGS WHILE WATCHING TV OR READING. SHE SAYS SHE CAN FEEL IT PULLING ON HER THIGH MUSCLES AS WELL AS HER CALVES. GREAT PRODUCT.

The product is compact but still provides sufficient exercise for leg muscles, especially if walking is not an option. It also comes assembled, so one does not have to arrange for assembly--a very helpful factor.

Staying fit at a desk job,

This review is from: Aerobic Pedal Exerciser - Use for Arms & Legs (Health and Beauty)
I bought the pedal exerciser to use at work during the times when I am stuck at the computer. I noticed that I was putting a lot of strain on my legs when I worked for a long time. I have the exerciser now, and I really like that I can keep my blood circulating while I'm sitting. The exerciser is simple and quiet, providing a small resistance to pedal against. The only drawbacks are that it can move around if your own leg movements aren't controlled enough, and I had to take the casters off my chair to keep from rolling backward with each pedal. Also, I have to stretch out so my knees don't hit the desk. But, for $30 after S&H, I think it's a great idea and I'm happy with mine.

i'm a college student so this is great...i can use it while studying, watching movies, etc and it really is a good workout. the only problems the pedal arms heat up after vigourous use from the friction and the tightest tension isn't really that resistent but other than that it's a great way to spend $30.

just recieved mine thru this link. works fine and does what i expected. but the unit does get hot in just a few minutes if any tension or speed is used, so beware and don't pick it up by in the middle till it cools down. and while it's perfect for theraputic conditioning, it doesn't do much for aerobic.for what it is, it's a great buy.

recommended purchase by a VERY skeptical buyer,
This review is from: Aerobic Pedal Exerciser - Use for Arms & Legs (Health and Beauty)
this pedal exerciser works great and made of pretty good material. i am a VERY skeptical online buyer. the picture posted seemed as though product as very poorly built with flimsy material, but it was not. to be fair, i've purchased this and used for over a month before posting this review.i purchased this for my 80yr old father who uses a walker to slowly walk around. he suffered a stroke 2yrs ago and had a quadriple bypass 4yrs ago which grafts were taken out of his legs. until recently, he was able to get his daily exercise from walking around the block accompanied by someone. due to the weather and of old age, he can only get around half the distance now. i wish i purchased this earlier to add into his daily routine. i looked at other higher price models from Sharper Image to various sports stores, but they were overpriced with all sorts of un-needed functions, VERY heavy, and at the lowest setting too much resistance for my father's legs. i wanted to be able to physically test the product and be able to return it to a store if we didn't like it. after several failed visits to stores, i decided to take a risk and buy it online. the picture posted looked flimsy but it is made of pretty good materials and good welds. it is not chrome/silver like the picture, but it's black, grey,& white like granite. it is lightweight and easy to move aside when not being used. yes, the rubber floor paddings did strongly stink of rubber. i removed them, washed with some hot water and dish soap to remove some of the smell. the rubber smell was gone about a week. after 3 weeks, it did squeek a little but nothing a little WD-40 oil couldn't fix. the rubber floor pads do keep it in place and were larger than i expected. even the feet pads were quite larger than expected compared to the pictures. they're plastic and not adjustable. you do get what you pay for. it does not offer enough resistance for everyone, but it works great for my 80yr old dad's health and physique. well spent $23.99 +tax. i definitely recommend it to anyone with similar health conditions for rehab and daily exercise.

Not very challenging, but better than nothing,

I bought this exerciser because I'm having knee problems and can't walk long distances anymore, but I don't want to become sedentary and gain weight. Unfortunately, even at the tightest tension, it's not enough to break a sweat even after 20 minutes. And at the highest tension, the pedaling tends to become a little jerky unless you're careful. I bought some ankle weights and that seemed to help somewhat, but it still took about 15 minutes to start sweating even a little and that was probably only because I started pumping my arms too. I will continue using it, but it will have to be a back-up form of exercise rather than primary, and it'll have to be supplemented with the ankle weights and probably also some dumbbells. On the plus side, it's very lightweight and stores like a dream. In answer to the comments about it getting hot, it does, but you just have to be aware and pick it up from the legs rather than in the middle. This exerciser has its place, but if you want to burn serious calories, it's not for you.
