Best Boomerang Ever!!!!,
By Peace B. Lovejoy (MA, USA) - See all my reviews

I have been playing with these boomerangs for about 21 years. They are great because the soft plastic ends are extremely forgiving if they hit someone. You have to have a large field to play in and stand near the middle, or they will get caught in the trees.
The best thing about them is that they are incredibly fun and you get great exercise at the same time because you have to run after them. At first it is difficult to get right, because one's first inclination is to keep wanting to throw them side arm or up into the air, and they will not work properly that way. You really have to throw them like you were throwing a baseball overhand, with only a small angle,(they suggest 30 degrees but the greater the wind, the more you need to tomahawk it). You totally have to throw it at a point on the ground 100 feet away, not up in the air. With a strong wind, throw it much softer and higher up. Always snap the wrist at the end. It gets more difficult with a very strong wind or with no wind. With a perfect wind of about 5-12 MPH, I have successfully thrown three into the air and caught all three about 40 times over the last 21 years. Doubles are easy with good wind conditions, but you have to be in pretty good shape to catch them. Run on the balls of your feet instead of flat footed and you will be able to accelerate faster and change direction faster, which will enable you to catch up to them better. If you are over 40, you should use a heart rate monitor watch. Make sure that your heart rate does not go over your maximum for your age. Also, be sure to take lots of water with you. Don't do this above 85 degrees temperature, or you could easily get heat stroke. Dump some water on your head if its hot out and you are starting to feel affected. You can also make sure that your heart rate stays in the aerobic zone. It is so much fun that you won't even notice that your heart rate is in the aerobic zone for 45 minutes (as my doctor prescribed). On the treadmill, keeping my heart in the zone for 45 minutes is pure self-torture even if I have the TV on. With this game, the time goes by and you are having great fun so you don't notice it. It is very high impact, with lots of side to side motion, so it is not for you if you have severe knee or back problems.

This boomerang is terrific fun, but requires alot of space and an absence of trees (we've lost one to a tree). It isn't the classic boomerang that comes right back to its thrower, but does fly well, especially when thrown at an angle, & returns not far from it's point of origin. I consider it educational in that through its use one may develop a better understanding of the physics of throwing a boomerang!

Love these things. Once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun.
But stay away from the trees ....:) A good vacant Baseball field is all you need.
