This boomerang really works!

If you throw it horizontally like a frisbee, it will fly in a U shape. it will fly straight up, and then fall back down in the same path it took.

If you throw this at the correct angle, it will fly like a typical boomerang.

Just be careful to use this only in a very big field. I've gotten mine stuck on top of very tall trees twice. The first time I was lucky enough to get it back eventually because someone found it on the ground one day and returned it to me. After that, I wrote my name and contact information on it. It is currently stuck on a tree outsideon the mall outside baker hall @ CMU. If anyone finds it, I would like it back =)

I took mine out to a park and in about 15 throws I had it generally coming back to me. The instructions say if you throw too high it will land to your left which happened quite a bit to me. I did have it almost hit me a few times when I got it just right. I think it's a blast. I'm 39 and always thought boomerangs looked neat but I didn't want anything wooden coming at me. This is very light with a soft rubber coating around the hard spine. If you are familiar with the Aerobie Pro flying rings you know they go extremely far on little effort. This does as well. You don't have to throw out your shoulder tomahawking it but give it some snap off your fingers to get the rotation started.

I have been playing with these boomerangs for about 21 years. They are great because the soft plastic ends are extremely forgiving if they hit someone. You have to have a large field to play in and stand near the middle, or they will get caught in the trees.
The best thing about them is that they are incredibly fun and you get great exercise at the same time because you have to run after them. At first it is difficult to get right, because one's first inclination is to keep wanting to throw them side arm or up into the air, and they will not work properly that way. You really have to throw them like you were throwing a baseball overhand, with only a small angle,(they suggest 30 degrees but the greater the wind, the more you need to tomahawk it). You totally have to throw it at a point on the ground 100 feet away, not up in the air. With a strong wind, throw it much softer and higher up. Always snap the wrist at the end. It gets more difficult with a very strong wind or with no wind. With a perfect wind of about 5-12 MPH, I have successfully thrown three into the air and caught all three about 40 times over the last 21 years. Doubles are easy with good wind conditions, but you have to be in pretty good shape to catch them. Run on the balls of your feet instead of flat footed and you will be able to accelerate faster and change direction faster, which will enable you to catch up to them better. If you are over 40, you should use a heart rate monitor watch. Make sure that your heart rate does not go over your maximum for your age. Also, be sure to take lots of water with you. Don't do this above 85 degrees temperature, or you could easily get heat stroke. Dump some water on your head if its hot out and you are starting to feel affected. You can also make sure that your heart rate stays in the aerobic zone. It is so much fun that you won't even notice that your heart rate is in the aerobic zone for 45 minutes (as my doctor prescribed). On the treadmill, keeping my heart in the zone for 45 minutes is pure self-torture even if I have the TV on. With this game, the time goes by and you are having great fun so you don't notice it. It is very high impact, with lots of side to side motion, so it is not for you if you have severe knee or back problems.

The Aerobie Orbiter Boomerang takes a lot of getting used to. Throwing it wrong in the slightest way will result in less than par results, meaning it will not come back to you.

However, after lots of practice, and holding techniques, my wife and I was able to get it to come back consistently.... until it got stuck on the roof of a three story school. So we are purchasing another one. All in all, its a good toy, but not for those who lack the patience to learn it.

This arrived on time and looks great, i just wish there was an option to pick the color. i got this as a christmas present for my son and a pink one arrived (i know that he is not going to like that). i know it says colors may vary but due to the picture i was thinking it would be between red, purple and green not bright neon pink. it is a shame because i know he will comment on it being for a girl.

Love these things. Once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun.

But stay away from the trees ....:) A good vacant Baseball field is all you need.

I bought this for my 8 year old son for Christmas and he loves it. Well actually we all love it. It took about an hour to figure out how to make it come back, But now I can toss it out several hundred feet at an angle and it will travel around the baseball field come right back. Be careful letting the wife play with it. Mine tried to decapitate my head with it lol. I will be buying more of these. These don't appear cheaply made like some chinese crap.

This boomerang is terrific fun, but requires alot of space and an absence of trees (we've lost one to a tree). It isn't the classic boomerang that comes right back to its thrower, but does fly well, especially when thrown at an angle, & returns not far from it's point of origin. I consider it educational in that through its use one may develop a better understanding of the physics of throwing a boomerang!

This product was pretty cool overall and, after a few throws, I started to get the hang of it. I have to say that it does really whip around like you'd think a boomerang should. The downside is that all my neighbors have fences and I threw it into one of my neighbors yard and haven't been able to find it since.

I gave this to my 11 year old nephew because he had a traditional boomerang and those are tricky to get to work right. I wanted to give him one that would work no matter what and this one does! It is easy to use and lots of fun! You do need a good amount of room to use it but it is worth it.
